Castilho House, Lisbon

A very disappointing experience. Overall: The place is freezing and quite dark. It’s essentially converted from a large apartment and is not equipped to function well as a guest house. Room: Neither bedroom nor bathroom had proper ventilation. The bathroom wall/window had a lot of condensation and our clothes felt damp constantly. The room was clean. Breakfast: Space was freezing so we had to bring food into our room to eat. No hot food, mostly sliced up pastries/bread, some fruit. Service: Terrible. Staff are not helpful, do not communicate well in English. For example: the A/C in our room was not functioning when we moved in. We called staff member who became quite frustrated pressing all the buttons. She then left and never returned to resolve the problem. We figured out how to operate the A/C (by googling its manual). Overall there was minimal effort to help us have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. My impression is that this place is ran by someone with little or no experience in professional hospitality.

Great for the money. Good location; friendly and helpful staff. It's a small place, and a bit noisy in the morning with the staff serving breakfast, etc. Rooms are small, but have everything you need. It functions more like a bed & breakfast than a typical hotel.

The hotel is charming and in a beautiful calm rural town just in front of “Roman baths”.

It was a good stay and the hotel was perfect placed for our trips. The hotel had a very good service and if we come back to Lisbon, we would choose this hotel again.

Lovely stay in the old town of Lisbon, nice room, air con and a surprisingly nice buffet breakfast for the price. Staff were friendly and helpful. Just what you need for a city break.

All good, but would have preferred door between bathroom and bedroom. Staff were very helpful, English was not great...

I highly recommend Castilho house because of its superb location for exploring Lisbon, very friendly staff and excellent room.When l return to Lisbon, Castilho house is where I shall be staying. 10/10.

Most enjoyable 4 night break. Accommodation at Castilho Cais very comfortable, location good for exploring on foot, for Time Out Market and also for transportation links. Breakfast delicious and plentiful with good choice. Very helpful staff - thanks in particular to Florentina!
