Good Combo of History and Charm
Historic venue features room-by-room profiles of leading figures in the establishment's history amidst restored period-piece decor. The usual McMenamin stamps (shared bath facilities, pop poster art, etc.) are in full evidence here. The pub and cafe downstairs feature a good kitchen, and the satellite bar adjacent to the movie theatre/lounge assures a pleasant showtime experience. Some may not like the close proximity to the train tracks across the street on the back side of the property, but it reminds one that the town of Centralia owes its name (originally Centerville) to its midway position on the mainline between Puget Sound and Oregon...This place is stylish and fun...

Exactly what you would expect from a building over one hundred years old. McMenamins have keep the feel of the old Oly club, honored the history.

A step back in time
Away from the freeway, near downtown/train station/restaurant.

Nice enough for a reasonable one-night stay
Check in at a downstairs lobby and then the old hotel stairway was three doors down the street. Steep stairs could be difficult for some, Narrow halls with individually named rooms were a throwback to the past. Lots of hand-painted historical stories in the stairwell and halls, and in our room on all four walls. A shared bath was right across from our room, The shared baths are single units (not like in a dormitory!) and the hotel rooms have big white robes in the rooms so guests can use them to traverse the hall modestly. The hotel room had a very small corner sink which helped for things like tooth brushing. The room was very small but sufficient for the night. No tv, but we weren’t wanting one. A working railroad track was a block away and we could hear it but it didn’t wake us. (The hotel offers earplugs for guests who want them). The price was right for us. No amenities that would want me to stay longer, and I don’t know how families would manage there. The dining room or pub looked very nice and well-restored although we didn’t eat there.
