Location, location, location.
Location, location, location, The Cav is really handy to the CBD and the Waterfront. The bar is lively, but they shut down at 2200 so it doesn't keep you up at night in your room. It's not a new hotel, but it was clean and there were no cockroaches as others have complained about. They pest control done the day I arrived. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful, let me check in very early and store my stuff when I checked out due to the hotel being all booked. Easy walk to restaurants, shops and the waterfront, good A/C. Yes, the king bed is two king singles pushed together, but I was alone so no bother for me. Would definitely stay here again. The price was just above a backpackers and much nicer.

A great place to stay. Close to all city attractions and staffed by friendly people. Would definitely return next visit to Darwin.

More of a motel with a fun vibe
More of a motel than a hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was outdated, might have technically been clean but didn't look it. My room was just above the attached bottle shop, so had the delight of hearing the customers, staff and other repetitive noises until late both nights. Pool and bar had a fun atmosphere. Not great for a solo traveler though.
