Hobo, Stockholm

This place is tops in my book. All the fuddy-duddies and boring crowd can stay at the stodgy hotels. Hobo is for the hip (or those who simply enjoy a fun, trendy place). I received a friendly welcome on arrival and was quickly and easily checked-in in less than a minute. The lobby area has a nice indoor-outdoor lounge/bar area to sit and chill with food or a drink. Or, perhaps, simply with a book or your computer. They have a fun assortment of books around if you want to grab one and hang out. There generally was a nice crowd hanging out and surfing the free wifi while a stellar selection of music played in the background. The room itself was very clean and modern and the lounge staff were young and always had a friendly "hey" as I came and went, which brings up the fact of just how close Hobo is to everything! All the best sights are within minutes by foot. Gamla Stan is just across the bridge - close enough to come and go as you like. The train station, Stockholm Central Station, is also accessible by foot in the other direction. Flygbussarna will drop you off or pick you up on the cheap to take you to/from the airport and Central Station. If you don't want to foot it or you want to venture out further, Hobo has bikes for rent. They've got it all: sights, plenty of eateries and shopping in the area, a fun, comfortable place to stay and, if you don't have any extras, just drop your key in the box on your way out! I'll definitely book the Hobo if I stay in Stockholm again!

The staff was very nice and professional. The establishment was clean. Not very spacious. The shower was beautiful and normal size. Situated near everything. It was easy to walk everywhere and not have to pay for transportation. The major negative and turn off was the party at the resto/nightclub(Tak restaurant) that was located on the roof top of the next building. It’s in no shape Hobo’s fault but the vibration of the music was so loud that it would shake our room for hours and would end around 1am almost every night. That was during the week and week-end nights.

My husband's and my hotel room was a bargain compared to others in the city center. It was very well located in the center. The compromise we made for the bargain was that the room had no windows (a new experience but no problem for us) and tiny, only 72 square feet (not including the bathroom and a short hall). There was only a couple of feet of floor space on all three sides of the bed, so it was inconvenient to maneuver around the bed and there was no room for our luggage.

2 mins to pedestrian street and Metro Central station (different from Central Railway which is about 8 mins walk). Metro Central is at Sergels Torg which is meeting point for 2 Free Walking tours we took. Our hotel is great location. Lots of convenience stalls n eateries (kebabs and Asian food). We ate kebabs a couple of times. Hotel fresh and new. Bed very comfortable. Room good size, big toilet. We faced an office block, but at night could hear some music from a bar which must be nearby. But it did not bother us. Room has no kettle (we had a travel jug). Windows cannot open. No aircon but has air blower and room comfortably cool. Can walk to Old Town easily. Taxi from Frihamnen cruise terminal was 240 SKK. Taxi from airport to Stockholm city 495 SKK. For our trip from hotel to airport, we used the airport shuttle which is every 10 mins at Gate 2 of The Central Railway Station. We bought tickets online at 99 SKK per pax.

The hotel is nice and the staff are friendly. The room we got did not have a window, not an issue for us because we didn't spend too much time in the room. The bed however was way too soft and after four nights our backs were beginning to hurt.
