Warm Welcome at the Castle
Really pleasent staff in genuine old castle surroundings. Warm welcome, cosy room and good food. Kept laughig at he pospect of running into Scooby Doo as we'd never seen so much armour and oak panelling, but the stay was delightful

We arrived to a friendly and quick check in. Once settled into our snug! ( Our rooms name) we went out to explore the gorgeous gardens with a staffs dog which we absconded with for a walk. Inside you will find squishy chairs to plonk into, suits of armour standing gaurd, swords at the ready and many stunning prints adorning the walls. There is a bar for your convenience and you can dine with them at night if you wish. Breakfast is lovely served in the banquet hall. This will keep you going well into your day. Please make sure you spend some time in the original part of the castle it's quite amazing and lots of little nook's and cranny's to explore. Enjoy your stay.

Really nice stay with lovely staff
Everything was brilliant except the plumbing, first room struggled with hot water (9) second (4) struggled to drain the sink. Food, service and everything else exceeded my expectations

Slightly disappointed Highlander
Externally, the property is impressive, giving it the air of a country house hotel with medieval historical remains attached. The garden is fabulous, sporting extensive lawns, a koi-carp pool and super views. On first impressions, the interior is sumptuously clothed with suits of armour and weaponry, the bar is well-stocked and the lounge suitably sized and furnished. On the downside, there are lots of stairs to climb. We were on the third floor and getting luggage up and down and with an elderly dog requiring late evening and very early morning visits outside, the stairs presented challenges. There is no lift. This is certainly not the hotel for anyone with a disability. The room was adequately furnished, but was small, as was the television and the shower in the bathroom was very difficult to use. The bath was a very deep free-standing Victorian style job with a hand-held shower head. It was difficult to get in and there was no way of preventing water from running onto the floor as the shower curtain only covered three sides and clung to the body as the user attempted to utilise the shampoo bottle contents, wash hair and body and manoeuvre the shower head at the same time. This combo is cosmetically pleasing, but could easily present dangers for any elderly person trying to use it. Breakfast was okay, but unimaginative. This hotel might suit anyone who likes a veneer of luxury, but note that it is out of the way and is not for anyone with mobility difficulties.
