Will never come back nor recommend to anyone.
We booked this hotel 2 rooms for 2 nights to attend a wedding dinner in Penang. It was so bad that we after the two days stay we moved to the nearby Sunway Hotel for another 3 nights. The price of these two hotels are the same but the quality of service, breakfast, comfort, standard and environment are totally different. On the day of check-in, there were 4 staffs at the front desk but it took them almost 20mins to help only 2 guests who were in front of us. By the way, there were more than 2 computers at the front desk. Why need 4 staffs to serves 2 guests and took such a long time for a simple check-in? Oh yes, the staff did not smile or greet, they don't seem to be enthusiasm with their job. When we made the booking, it stated non-smoking room, but the hotel looks so outdated, not well maintained, broken walls at the corner of the room, the whole floor of 9th including the two rooms smell of cigarette and the corridor are kind of dark. As for the breakfast, it is very very bad. In the food paradise island Penang, they dare to serve such kind of breakfast with such room rate, what a shame! I especially have to highlight the papaya they served, it is like the papaya just has an aeroplane crash or someone just vomited it out. It would be better than they don't serve the papaya, really make one lost their appetite.

Decent location, lousy wifi
Good: - Location was pretty good, close to a number of hawker stalls with very good food - Beds were very comfortable - Gym was clean (but very small) Bad: - Wifi was very slow, and the connection was intermittent - Some of the front desk staff we interacted with were unfriendly and unhelpful - Shower was badly designed, with no curtain/door, so the toilet floor was always wet and slippery after a shower. We almost fell a few times. - Malaysia is supposed to be screening the FIFA World Cup for free on a few TV channels, but for some reason, the hotel was not screening the matches. We had the correct TV channels, but the programming was different. None of the hotel staff knew why this was the case, and none of them were keen on helping us anyway.

Basic and spacious. Good location
1. Room is spacious but spartan 2. Shower screen does not prevent water from coming out of the shower area thus our floor towel is always wet. 3. Pillows were too soft. 4. Very little hooks to hang clothing considering that we have 3 people (in a family suite) 5. Only 1 key card was provided. 6. Breakfast options were minimal. Can go to the opposite Coffeeshop to eat if you want. 7. Check in was smooth but check out too a very long time. We waited 30min to check out! Only 1 service staff was at the reception desk when there was a queue. We had to notify the manager about the situation and more manpower was deployed to reception. 8. There's a pool, not too big but it's ok. 9. Location is good.

Hotel that meets its price
The overall stay was ok. Reception is overall helpful except an incident upon check in: I originally booked 5 days stay but then cancelled and changed to two separate bookings of 3 days and 1 day stay. Expedia confirmed that booking was cancelled but failed to inform the hotel so they had 3 bookings under my name. The receptionist insisted I have booked 2 rooms upon my check in even though I showed her the expedia cancellation confirmation and told her it'd be expedia's problem. It wasn't settled until a shift manager came and check me in for the latest booking and asked the receptionist to communicate with Expedia direct. Other services are fine, they are helpful when needed their advice on taxi booking/ route within Georgetown. Room is ok (washroom door handle was broke when check in) . Cleanliness is ok. Location - might need around 15 mins walk a while to the popular areas.

Fair 4.0
Hotel was very near a lot of places of interest in Georgetown, walking distance Hin Bus Depot, which had Sunday Market, which was a great experience. However, there was a few drawbacks: - The positioning of the shower. It is set at a very high height and not adjustable, so you have to turn to one side to get the water. - The toilet + shower combination. The door to the toilet can be swung backwards to cover the shower (which is partially covered by a layer of glass), however, it is not fully covered, so there is still cold air from the room that gets in when you are showering. - Lack of hand towels, which was a very odd experience, but we made do. - Staff were not trained properly, giving us misinformation. The special rate of breakfast of $20+ per person per day can be added on, but it has to be informed to staff on day of check-in (which was not informed to us as we wanted to try the hotel buffet breakfast for just one day of our stay).
