Not quite paradise.
Like most resorts, it is first a question of location. The good news is that Belle Mont Farm is situated on a dormant volcano admist a rainforest, with sweeping panoramic views of the Atlantic and nearby islands, that are messerizing. Because of its location on St. Kitts you can enjoy brilliant sunsets even though it's on the Atlantic side. The location enhances the experience because you are literally in the clouds. The resort offers an infinity pool at the lodge with a bar and restaurant, and for others there's tennis and golf. If you are so inclined you can hike to the summit. There's a small beach affiliated with Belle Mont with amenities including a restaurant on the beach. The Kitchen at the lodge serves farm to table cuisine, creativey and well prepared. The staff is generlly quite friendly and attentive. If you go, cottages 304-309 offer the best views. The location is also the major negative. Belle Mont is isolated from the more populated and commercial areas of St. Kitts. To get ANYWHERE off the property requires transportation, which is very expensive. $60+for a cab and a 40+minute ride to Frigate Bag and Bassetere. Rental cars go for $125+ a day, plus the taxi to get there. Shuttles are provided to the Arthur's on the beach, but that's a 3+mile ride. Other than the restuarant, ammenites are quite limited. The beach is volcanic sand, no white sand here.. It can get very expensive-golf carts (with tips) used to access the rooms. If you go, plan carefully

Exceptional 10.0
This place was AMAZING!!! It was literally Paradise on Earth! The decor and attention to detail was just breath taking! The amenities in the room were absolutely wonderful and I would recommend getting a cottage with a pool. In the cottages they have thought of everything you would need, you can literally stay in your room the whole time if you wanted. We loved that they had speakers in the room where you could easily hook up a phone to play music, and just relax by your own pool. They also, had a refrigerator and wine cooler. I will admit at first the bathroom was a little scary being outside, but after you take your first shower and go out at night you realize there is nothing to worry about. We saw june bugs and little geckos, but that was it. It felt very safe and private. And taking a bath in the tub is a must! Also, they provide wonderful shampoo, condition, body wash, and cream, which we really enjoyed. The main house and pool are absolutely beautiful and the service is top notch. And if you are a foodie you will love this place because the food is outstanding. The food is very fresh and changes depending on what is in season at the time of your stay. I would also recommend doing the Farm to Table dinner, Chef John is amazing and his food was very delicious! Make sure you go hungry because it is a lot of food, and you will want to try everything. Also, it is worth checking out Arthur’s we didn’t eat down there, but the menu looked very good.

Good 6.0
Beautiful isolated hotel/culture not as advertised
Gorgeous place, but it is incredibly isolated and not connected to the island community other than hiring locals for their staff. It does seem to have sustainability in mind and the food is delicious, but when I read I would become "immersed in the rich culture of our island as you connect with the locals..." I really expected a place that was integrated with it's surroundings. Rather than a place that is physically and culturally isolating. Beautiful, quiet, and relaxing it is, but if you want to learn about the island and the people of that island, it is not on the agenda there. You can strike up a conversation with the taxi drivers who are all warm, friendly, and outgoing, but you will pay $100+ for round trip rides to historic parts of the island. Main grounds were immaculate, but Arthur's had lots of trash on the beach including broken glass, and didn't have the kind of service I would expect beachside. Although the staff is very warm and friendly, they seemed to always get it wrong. I didn't have a single meal at the property which actually came as ordered (I had over 10 meals there) and sometimes the correction to the mistake had to be corrected again. This did not occur when we ate elsewhere. We arranged for a massage and it was scheduled for the wrong day. We were told there was a regular shuttle schedule to Arthur's and apparently you were supposed to schedule your shuttle ride ahead of time. Sometimes the bed had a sheet and sometimes it didn't, etc. etc.

alternative to your traditional caribbean holiday
Belle Mont Farm was lovely. A different approach to a Caribbean vacation, as it was at a higher altitude and a drive away from the beach -- which meant cooler, with more shade (and colder pools), as well as rainier than the beach areas on St Kitts might have been. You need to arrange rides (or rent a car) to do anything other than stay at the resort -- so it is a great place to just relax and unwind. If a busy, party, constant beachfront or night scene is important to you regularly, this is NOT your place. We hiked the volcano (a great, strenuous feat) and went by car on two brief excursions not far from the property (to the beach and to Sprat Net), but otherwise stayed close to the pool and cottage. The food was good, as were the drinks. We were there in the cooler, off-season (late November), so there were some menu limitations (the farm-table dinner was cancelled for rain and lack of reservations) and the pools were fairly cold (we only got into the plunge pool once as it was shaded and quite cool)! However, I believe these matters were largely a function of when we were there and not within the control of the property management. The only real complaint was we lacked hot water on three different mornings at our cottage, which appears to be a function of frequent losses of power at the property though loss of hot water appeared only to affect us, not other guests. We got a few drinks comped for the inconvenience.

BELL MONTE FARM - Beautiful, friendly, remote
Beautiful grounds and truly eco friendly. Food was very good for breakfast and lunch but wildly inconsistent for dinner. Had 2 dinners (4 meals) that were average at best, and steak came raw one night, then it took 50 minutes to reprepare as we waited! However, we were treated to a chef’s table experience as a gift from our family, and it was incredible! Not just the experience and the service, but the entrees were uniformly stupendous, and the cuts of meat and the preparation was outstanding, even underwhelming dishes we had previously at dinners before! While ecstatic at the wonderful meal, it is disappointing that the “regular” dinners did not measure up, since clearly the kitchen is capable of great preparation. The help at the resort was uniformly wonderful, and maybe the highlight of the stay. The outdoor porch bathroom is indeed different, and it forces you to plan all your bathroom activities to a higher level, since you are headed outside. Netflix on the huge screen in your room is cool, but not much else to do at night, since the resort is isolated, and not likely to leave it at night. We stayed 3 nights, which seemed about right, and were glad we did for the experience.
