2/10 Poor

Absolutely the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Didn’t even look like our room was clean. Black hair and mold all over the shower and smelled awful. Pool house was also repulsive and not clean. The environment felt like a trailer park that had never been cleaned. Would not recommend to anyone. Would rate this a 0 star hotel if possible. Can’t believe I had to spend $204 to stay here for one night.

Resort or Camp?
Called a "resort" becuz in 1911 they had 7 cabins & 7 or more units was by law a resort. The place is more like a camp so lower your "resort" expectations. The cabins were ok but cleanliness was not. The floors were dirty, the bottom edge of the shower door was moldy, & there was lots of crusted dirt around the baseboards. We were in the older part. The Moose Lodge, built more recently, is supposed to be nicer. The grounds are absolutely beautiful & the hiking trails are nice for seeing more of it. We visited the sled dog kennel area on our hike. The hot springs were great, very relaxing. The free tour of the greenhouse & geo thermal heat process was interesting. The Ice Museum is AMAZING & a must not miss! The food in the restaurant, was pretty good. They do not take reservations, so getting in is very difficult. Our 1st night, they were understaffed. They told us it would be a 35 min wait. At over an hour they took in, ahead of us, an entire tour group that had arrived by shuttle. We were told "they have a reservation" & they are a "tour" so they cater more to the tour people than their own resort guests! They still said we were 2nd on the list but also told anyone coming in, that it would be a 2 hour wait. We went to the Activities Center where they have some sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. & had a simple dinner. Breakfast the next am was there as well. The staff were in "end of season mode". There are real management issues to be addressed but we still enjoyed our stay.

One positive, a nice lady named Kathleen was very pleasant and helpful! When I brought my concerns to her she immediately switched our room and informed management of my dissatisfaction! She was lovely! Building 103 should be condemned! The room was disgusting! The bathroom was filthy, the room window was broken, the ceilings appeared to have suffered major water damage! The “resort” should be appalled! The amenities were just as distributing, the locker rooms were nasty and under major construction! The pool had several used bandaids floating on the surface. Zero attention by pool attendant! Overall, I was thrilled to cut my stay to just one day! Save the 50 miles on a rough road from Fairbanks! This “Resort” is not worth your time or money!

Beautiful Property. Aurora Ice Museum is on property-very unique. Restaurant on property was a nightmare. You can't make reservations, you go on a list and then waited for 1 hour. Small restaurant. 2 people went on table for 6. After the long wait the food was good.
