It’s historic!
Staying in one of the great lodges of the National Parks is something else. They are history. So with that knowledge you have to realize that these are not shiny modern hotels. You stay in them for the history and the ambiance of their great common rooms and fireplaces and such. We booked at the last minute so our room on the first floor did not have a view of the canyon. But again we booked the same day as our arrival, I was happy to get a room. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a lot of noise early in the morning as people were getting up to see the sunrise, but then so was I! The only negatives are that the bar and restaurant closed early (10:30 PM) due to it being the off-season. Even room service stopped. It would have been nice to get a drink after the long drive to get there.

A must stay if visiting the Grand Canyon.
Location, location, location. The view from the hotel may be the best in the world, overlooking the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Superb ambiance and character.

No internet, bar food - if any
No internet connection, no late service whatsoever. If you got there late and your kid is hungry, it’s your problem. And the only option, the hotel restaurant, is horrible.
