Excellent as Always
This is our second stay at Sakura Terrace The Gallery in Kyoto, and it was just as nice as our first stay 3 years ago. We will definitely return whenever we visit Kyoto. The rooms are comfortable and clean and spacious by Japanese hotel standards. The daily buffet breakfast included with our room rate was bountiful, fresh, and delicious. We enjoy the free nightly cocktail & live music during dinner. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone (and have!) and would definitely return again.

Great location and fairly priced
Small rooms but great service. Surprised to see a washer and dryer available for free use. Meals in restaurant very reasonably priced and good. Nice touch to have free welcome drink each day. Great location one block from Kyoto station. Would definitely stay here again but upgrade to a larger room.

Perfect hotel for relaxing in Kyoto
Sakura Terrace/the Gallery was the perfect hotel for our stay in Kyoto. It's a five minute walk to Kyoto rail station but on a quiet side street so no noise. The lobby is beautiful with an open air design and fire pit/bar with lots of seating. Our room was lovely--"cozy" as most Japanese rooms are but very well laid out and comfortable. We also had a huge balcony where we could enjoy a glass of wine or saki in the evening. There were also male and female sentos (Japanese baths) for use by the guests and the rooms came equipped with sandals and robes specifically for that purpose. Breakfasts were very nice with plenty to choose from among western and Asian foods. We loved our stay in Kyoto and hope to get back there soon.

Great location and ambience
The breakfast buffet was terrific. The evening live entertainment was soothing. The availability of day-long coffee and one free evening beverage appreciated. The rooms do not have closets or drawers. Instead you have a pole on which to hang hangers. Our room had a 6 inch step-down dividing it which can be hazardous if not careful. There is limited lighting in the room for reading. Despite these small negatives, we would return because of the many positive features.
