Best hotel on Treasure Island ever
I've stayed at Bilmar and Thunderbird resorts, and they cannot compare to Beach House Cabanas. This was a very happy discovery I made while shopping around for hotels for me, a buddy of mine and her kid to stay at for 2 nights. When we arrived, Eric was very welcoming and friendly. Our room was really nice. The property was built in the 50's, but David and Eric really put a lot of love and hard work into it to make it modernized and comfortable. The room was beautifully decorated and coordinated. It had a cute little kitchenette - I cooked one night and the stove and oven worked beautifully. The couch was nice and the couch bed was comfortable. The bedroom had a nice bed with premium linens and beautiful bedspread, also decorated beautifully and tastefully. The bathroom was a little small since it was built in the 50's, but it worked well. They had thoughtful touches throughout the room - lamps doubled as device chargers; a dispensing system for the shampoo, conditioner, and soap; extra pillows, blankets, sheets; nice, soft towels. The courtyard was absolutely glorious with a gorgeous fountain, bright paint colors, lush plants everywhere, little container gardens with succulents and sea elements, lounge chairs and tables with more chairs. The free breakfast was outstanding, plenty of choices with cereal, baked goods, yogurt, boiled eggs, juices, dairy and non-dairy milk, Keurig coffee and fruit. Dave and Eric were wonderful hosts and work hard to please customers. A++

    Poor 2.0
Stinky and Unstable, stay somewhere else.
This was a horrible experience. We paid for a full kitchen and there was no stove, just a fridge and microwave. The bathroom door was a closet door that had been moved onto the bathroom. It was see-through and very uncomfortable, especially since we paid for 4 people and intended to have our daughter and her husband join us the 2nd night. We let it slide, tried to make the best of it. There were no curtains on the bedroom window, so bright all night and early wake up, but no sleep due to street noise and barking dogs. Got up and I tried to make coffee (pot was dirty) while my husband showered. Last straw: the water was horrid and smelled of rotten eggs. The smell made us gag and filled the entire room. We had to leave and my husband asked if there was a chance for a refund for the 2nd night. The owner became irate, stormed into the bedroom where I was and began violently STAPLING a piece of someone's old dress to the inside of the bathroom door. He was very rude, lying about how these are "Florida Jalousie doors" and are perfectly common in hotels and I would know that if I traveled like he did. First of all, I'm not a tourist. I live here and bathrooms have doors. 2nd, we have traveled extensively, so we know what hotels have to offer. He yelled at me and accused me of attacking him personally because the room was unsatisfactory. When my husband told him to calm down, he threatened to call the police. Later, he offered to move us to a diff room. Too little too late. Psycho!

This was our first time on Treasure Island and we really enjoyed our time here! We picked Beach House Cabanas based on the reviews and it did not disappoint!! Upon check in, David was very nice and showed us around the property and gave us some tips on things around the area. The room was spotless and the welcome note was a nice touch! Bed was comfortable and my kids said even the pull out was comfortable! The property was absolutely beautiful with plenty of places to sit in the courtyard in a cozy environment! We loved having access to beach chairs and towels which, when flying, you don’t have the extra room to pack! The property is located in a great spot right across from the beach and near a really great ice cream shop! Breakfast was great and when they say there is something for everyone, there really is!! Fresh hard boiled eggs, cereal, yogurt, bagels, cheese sticks, etc all in a family style type atmosphere made us fall in love with this place even more! We met Eric on our 2nd night and he was also very warm and welcoming! We highly recommend this place and are looking forward to coming back here in the future!!!

Beach House Cabanas is an absolute TREASURE on Treasure Island! We had read several reviews on different sites about the property and they basically ranged from "wonderful" to "glowing". You would think some of them were "plants"! Well, after our few day stay there I can safely say these reviews were not overstatements. The property is small, only 10 rooms, with a tastefully appointed courtyard that promotes relaxation and also engenders camaraderie among guests. The proprietor/managers, David and Eric, are always on scene and accessible and go out of their to make sure, to the best of their ability (which is considerable), that guests have whatever they need to ensure a comfortable stay. The property really does have a Bed and Breakfast feel to it as they like to say. I have to echo another reviewer who commented on the extreme cleanliness of their room. I should only keep my bathroom at home as clean as the one in our room! David and Eric do all the cleaning which, while not only smart from an economical point of view, gives credence to the statement, "if you want something done right, do it yourself." And they definitely do it right. Sure the property is across the street rather than right on the beach, but the quality of the property and the fact that beachfront locations are MUCH more expensive makes staying at BHC a no-brainer. Suffice it to say I hope another stay there is in our future!

    Good 6.0
This quaint little motel would have been perfect except for the fact the office hours were listed as 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. although it seems no one was ever in the office. There was a bell to ring if guest needed service. I rang the bell one morning because I needed beach towels which were listed as available. David's demeanor when he came out made me feel as if I were a bother. Also breakfast was listed as being available until 10:00 a.m. On one occasion, my friend and I arrived just prior to 10:00 and we were toasting our bread and choosing from the the tasty food options, when David came out and without any greeting whatsoever, said, " You have 5 minutes." I was appalled. On the other hand, Eric was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Kindness goes a long way.
