Ubud Wana Villa - a monkey walk away
Ubud Wana Villas are a 5 minute walk away from the main resort...where yiu would eat your meals. At first I was a little we drove up after dark...but my concerns were quickly put to rest. The room was excellent, and the staff was wonderful and highly professional. With this location, the best part though is that your an easy minute walk away from the resort... and that 5 minutes takes you right past the edge of the Monkey sanctuary so you walk thru and past monkeys out on the street on your way to the resort to eat.... a great treat some guests staying at the resort holding may never be aware of. Further your 50 meters away from a great americano at an open walled cafe at the corner (the Bali Bohemia)... where you can sit comfortably in the morning sipping your coffee while watching monkeys start their own day. In the rear of the villa you have your own private pool and lounge enjoy the sun and you may even see a monkey or two roam a nearby wall. The resort and villas are a short 5 minute cab ride away from the main downtown of Ubud ($4-$5 usd) or an easy walk thru the monkey forest. ($3 usd per person)... making it a great location.. close but away from the noisier center. I would recommend this location highly for a couple or family of 4 as the villa is quite spacious and everyone has room to relax.

Hidden costs and a lack of communication
There was not enough communication from the host's side prior to the stay to discuss the check in arrangements due to which we had a tiring unpleasant start to the stay, after a long flight. Although we were stood outside the apartment, the host did not come to get us until half an hour after our check-in time for which we were wondering what to do on the main roads standing with suitcases as no instructions had been given. The apartment is two-stories up, so we had to carry our suitcases up the narrow stairs, but then there was a lift further up to get to the apartment for which I was relieved. There is quite a long and confusing walk from the main entrance on the road to the actual apartment, and the host had not given enough directions on how to exit the properly, which also resulted in a harrowing experience with the suitcases. The other thing that was unpleasant was the $SD 60 cleaning fee which was not mentioned in the cost at the time of the booking but we had to pay on the spot. Apart from all this, the apartment was cosy, fully furnished and had good views. The bathroom and the kitchen were stocked with amenities for our use, e.g. soap, bowls, plates, pans.

A lovely place to stay with very helpful staff. The room was clean with comfortable bed. We were given a fruit platter when we arrived and each day the room was made up and we were provided water. We had breakfast at the hotel and there was a good mix of Indonesian and European options. Plenty of coffee with attentive restaurant team. The day we went up Mount Batur (leaving at 2.30am) they made us boxed breakfasts to take away and enjoy. We had dinner a few nights at the hotel and enjoyed the varied menu. We tried the spa and had both a Balinese massage and couple therapy both very relaxing. The setting is good spent some time resting at the hotel and other days walked into town. This included walking past the monkey forest which meant you had to be careful what you carried due to the monkeys. The hotel also had a shuttle which we used a couple of times. When we ate in town in the evening we could have used their shuttle home but generally came back by taxi (avoiding the forest at night)

Really nice hotel in peaceful surroundings
The hotel is nice, the room was comfy and clean, the hotel is set in a beautiful little village and is very peaceful. The breakfast is terrible, the juices were okay, the yoghurt was avoided on the 6 day stay, the croissants and danish bakery was something out of a cheap supermarket. The tea was weak and had to get the staff to get extra teabags put in the tea pot. The staff were really good and very helpful. There are 3 pools and the hotel is about 500 metres from the monkey forest. Apart from the breakfast, the hotel is in the perfect peaceful setting. There are lots of little lovely local cafes and shops on the doorstep of the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay in Ubud wana resort

Great hotel but a little bit away from city centre
A very nice quiet place to stay for a while) great staff, very smiley) great room & overall condition. The only thing we did not like about our staying is the nearest position to the monkey forest - they sit on the road just out of the hotel entrance. For us it was a disturbing thing as they tried to attack us to take our staff & we really were afraid of going that way to the city centre. Although it takes 10 minutes walking to approach the centre we were forced to take a taxi. But on the other side we saved the cost of monkey forest entrance tickets as we had it all the day long))))
