Nice base for traveling in the Boyne Valley.
Quaint hotel with solid food, good service, and a nice location in central Navan. Parking garage was very cramped and the layout meant moving bags was a bit challenging. Our view was into a service area, but we received good light. Overall, it was cozy but a wee bit dated.

Don't stay here if you want to actually sleep
One of the worst hotel experiences of my life. And not at all expected based on this hotel's cost ($160 per night), reviews, photos and overall rating of 8.2. The only good thing was the friendly service. Other than that--NOISE NOISE NOISE. Our family's room was right above a pub. This fact was not mentioned in the description. But worse, on a Sunday night, this pub hosted a rock-n-roll cover band that started at 10:00 and went on until 1:00. LOUD LOUD LOUD! We visited during a rare heat wave and had to sleep with our window's open. Not necessarily the hotel's fault, but the rooms were so stuffy. After the band finally ended a bar brawl broke out in the street below us. On the plus side, my young kids got to hear the F-bomb with an Irish accent. But even that loses its charm at 2:00 a.m. Construction began at around 6:00 or 7:00 so we had that to contend with once we were finally able to sleep. I mentioned the noise at check out and the friendly attendant replied: "did they not tell you it was a lively hotel when you booked." No. They didn't. And I don't think I would have understood that term, "lively", to mean we would be in the nightclub zone of Navan. The name of the hotel suggests that it would cater to tourists interested in the Bru na Boine sites, which we were. Rather, this hotel seems to be a tired party zone. It's unfortunate, as the hotel building itself was elegant and it seemed to be loved at one point in its life. Not anymore.

A great stay in Navan
Our stay in The Newgrange was excellent. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a view overlooking Navan to the South. The hotel lifts are small but adequate, unless you are managing a wheel chair. More on that shortly. The morning breakfast was nothing short of superb. Sausages, rashers (bacon, Irish style,) mushrooms, tomatoes and of course eggs. You can choose from tea or coffee, orange or apple juice, yogurt and a selection of cheeses. There are a variety of cereals to choose from; I enjoyed my favorite Meusli almost every day. A good full Irish breakfast will last you all day! You will love the waitstaff in the breakfast room and restaurant. We felt like distinguished visitors during our stay. My one complaint, and it is the only one, is the lack of adequate access for patrons in wheel chairs. Arriving by car, patrons using wheel chairs must set down at the front entrance of the hotel. There are few parking spaces there, usually reserved for tour buses and a loading zone for deliveries. On a busy day or evening there may be no parking space at all near the front door, meaning a long roll in the street with few handicap access ramps on sidewalk curbs. There is no wheel chair access from the parking garage and there does not seem to be an easy way to provide such access. There is a staircase of eleven steps from the "ground" floor to the top level in the car parking garage, connected by a terrace and smoking area with picnic benches and ash trays.

Incompetent or A scam?
The hotel was fine until check out. Here the charged me for the stay after I had already paid I was out of my country with no way to provide proof of payment so was charged again. So either they are scamming people to pay twice or they are incompetent and cannot use the computer to verify payment was already made. STAY AWAY
