English country pub and inn.
Excellent staff, very helpful at all times. Excellent food .Twin room very spacious to accommodate luggage, 20 minute cab ride to Southampton cruise terminal. Beds too soft for us and down quilts too heavy for October temperatures (good for cold winters probably). Slight mouldy smell...... water from shower sprays out on to baseboard, and corners of shower need a bleach spray to get rid of small amount of mould in grout. Minor fixes, would stay there again, a quiet country village setting, a co-op shop and another pub in the village a 15-20 minute walk.

Almost Everything Perfect BUT VERY POOR LIGHTING
Extremely quaint, picturesque with thatched roof. Ample Parking. Restaurant nearby across the parking lot. Almost everything was great, large room and bathroom. Huge shower. Everything was clean. Two issues: (1) chairs in room were dining room style and straight back (we usually prefer comfy chairs to relax in), and (2) the hair dryer was permanently affixed to wall near a vanity/desk table but there was absolutely NO LIGHTING there what so ever! I tried to move over a bedside table lamp to that location to see to do my hair and makeup but the plugs were different. Having had a knee replacement I need to sit down to do my hair and makeup. Could not blow dry hair in bathroom as no plugs in there. No shelf area or place to sit down in bathroom to do makeup. Great room if you don't need to do your hair or put on makeup at a vanity. Nice out of the way Inn.
We are from the US and were made very welcome by staff and guests. Lovely place and definitely recommend especially if you want to explore the New Forest but remote and you want to have a car. Major streets do not have full walkways. Taxi very expensive BUT bus service right by the Inn and train station easily accessed by bus. The Pub was a nice typical pub and always packed with guests. Food a little pricey for Pub food for us. Restaurant service excellent, room service OK but not great.

Second stay.
Not as good as last stay. Different room. Don’t think room had been checked for supplies as tissues had run out and no biscuits. One chair so hard to sit on we had to move furniture to accommodate alternative so both could sit down to watch the tv. Staff told about it and they agreed chair not comfortable. Side window over bed where people entering hotel could look through. Therefore we had to keep curtains drawn which then darkened that end of the room. Why not obscure glass put in. Disappointed.
