    Nice and cute

The hotel was nice, cute, clean, and cozy. Great location. I'm glad that I only had to pay for parking once. Staff was nice. I will definitely come back. The rooms are small but that's normal for a big city.

Our family stay was great during the day. We was out for the night and the so called security personal that is their at night is rude. She rushed us to the elevator while she was down stairs by the lobby talking to her friends and kept asking if we checked in while we was looking for our keys to go up this isn't the first time she was like this with us. Overall great place but the down fall is the rude security personal on the weekends

    Disappointing at best.

We had high hopes for The Freehand as we've stayed at a few of their hotels around the country. Unfortunately, this one was severely lacking. There was no housekeeping service unless you proactively communicated your need for it in the mornings, the robes and bedding were dirty, and the room was TINY with a window that overlooked a parking garage. The bar and coffee shop are also closed. And finally, the front desk person who was there late night was completely unhelpful (but the security guard was great!!). We won't be staying here again.

They had the heat on when it was 65 out. But the people there were nice and helpful. Just a smaller room than anticipated and it was hot.

When we travel we use our hotel room for sleep. Yes, the rooms are small, but we don't need a lot of space for sleeping - and the beds are always very comfortable. If we need more space, the downstairs area is very nice - lots of tables, couches and chairs. And the Freehand is so close to so many things - the Red Line, Michigan Ave., Navy Pier, our son's apartment (which you probably don't care about, but we do).

Awesome hotel, we booked the suite and it was excellent. Very clean, fun atmosphere. Beds were comfortable and the staff was beyond great. We checked in with Amanda, she put our group on the same floor without even being asked. She switched my moms room for free and with zero complaints when we realized she had accidentally booked it for the wrong night. By far the best customer service. They had a laundromat, very nice lounge area and were right in the middle of tons of restaurants and shopping downtown. My only regret is we didn’t stay longer

    Would not recommend

The bed was very springy and uncomfortable and the pillows were the size of couch throw pillows. The pillows were also pretty uncomfortable. The floors and upholstered surfaces had stains from various fluids. The hallway carpet looked as though someone threw up. All of the lights were pretty dim but I think that goes with the ship theme. The heater in the room doesn’t work well so it was cold at night. The heater also rattles it sounded like a family oh hamsters were squeaking in there. You could also hear every single thing from other rooms above you. The elevators are slow and smell of cigarette smoke. I wouldn’t recommend this place for families or the sophisticated traveler. It seems well suited for young travelers. Good if you want to stay on budget.
