Once Is Enough
I know it's Charleston and that Charleston lodging is expensive, but we expected a lot more from The Indigo Inn than we received. The only good things I can say about our stay is that it has a great location and the desk staff were very courteous and helpful. The rooms are dark and not attractively appointed, our bathroom toilet had a revolting black accumulation of something around the top inside of the bowl, the so-called breakfasts and afternoon wine and cheese offerings were marginal at best, the outdoor tables (where we ate) were dirty and a couple of them had ants (!) and parking at $16/night boosts the room rate to $240/night, which is a lot for marginal accommodations. If we had it to do over again we'd gladly pay an extra $60/night for a B&B or nicer small hotel. My wife and I are active travelers and particularly enjoy staying in B&Bs and small hotels. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the Indigo Inn and would not stay there again.

Perfect for a getaway
We took a weekend trip and chose Indigo Inn based on location. We were very pleased. The parking was on property, which is not always the case in Charleston. The Inn was unique. The staff was friendly, and the pimento cheese that was put out for the late afternoon snack was the best I ever had. One block from the market, restaurants everwhere. Just a nice place to stay.

Very Good
Couples weekend
Great location for downtown Charleston. To the whiners who don't like paying $16/day for an easy access lot in the middle of downtown Charleston: get a grip!

Old Folks Spring Break
The hotel is just two short blocks from the central market and an easy stroll to dozens of restaurants and shops. The dock for boats to Ft. Sumter and other attractions is on the same side of town, about 15 min walk. The carriage houses are also just a couple blocks away, so you may hear the clip-clop or horses hooves too. All rooms face an inner courtyard, which makes the rooms surprisingly quiet even though the hotel is along busy Meeting Street. The central patio is a very comfortable place to sit, have breakfast or the happy hour offerings (the lobby where food and drink service is set up is rather tight) - there is even a splashing fountain. The room was inviting and well appointed with a high four-poster (queen) bed and a mix of nice furnishings, the most modern being mid-century couch and chair. A very relaxing atmosphere. The hotel has its own parking lot, be we Ubered in and out easily from the airport. No complaints.
