Easy check-in, desk 24 hours in case you need assistance. The room had lockers for your personal belongings, and you could purchase a padlock at reception (The locker in my room was broken, but I felt safe leaving my belongings in the room since I always took all my valuables with me anyway). The room had its own sink, and the bathroom and shower were in the hall, easily accessible. The bunk beds are pretty high, so look out for that if it could be a problem. The kitchen and hang-out areas are spacious, and the check-in area and library are nicely decorated, which is always a plus :)

4/10 Fair

I arrived, and one host turned to another and asked him to see if there was a bed available in a room. There was doubt about that, which gives a guest a bad vibe. Apparently, there was a bed available. When I hauled my stuff up steep stairs to get there, I found sheets and blanket piled up like someone got out of bed. I hoped that was not how they set up the beds intentionally, and the host confirmed that he would change the sheets. He also commented that the two hosts need to work on their communication. Also, the lock on my locker was broken and could not be secured. The host offered to store my bags in the office, but I realized that's simply trusting someone with them out of my room instead of trusting the people around me while I'm in the room. I opted to keep them. The shower was maybe a little more than 24 inches square. The ladder to the top bunk is tough with the first step high off the ground. It's accurate in the pictures on this site, but climbing it makes it feel worse than it looks. I did like having a sink in the room. I also thought the breakfast was reasonable. There aren't a lot of hostels in SF with decent ratings, so this might be the best of them. I'll think twice about staying here again, but I still might since the other options are not great.

8/10 Very good

I have stayed at the Adelaide hostel for 5 nights in a shared 4 beds room. The facilities are not the newest and could use some renovation, but overall clean. Very basic accomodation as one would expect from a hostel. The type of living was quite like going back to staying at a dormitory, not in a good way. Some may argue that it's like that in any hostel, but my past experience staying in other hostels in different US cities , like in New York, was quite better, so I have something to compare it with. The offered "breakfast" is basically a do-it-yourself bagels with different spreads, cereals, fruit and uncooked eggs. You can use the kitchen to cook yourself, but the kitchen can get quite crowded in the peak hours (mornings and evenings). Wifi was overall ok, although did get disconnected at times. The biggest con for me was the high noise level by some tenants being in the alley outside the building very late at night that I could hear from my room. Although not directly management's fault, I think they should pay more attention to that and give some warnings. Overall, a budget option in a very good central location close to everything that I would recommend to those who are travelling solo or maybe with a friend, who are ok with the basic stuff and will use it mainly for sleeping purposes.
