The Darlington Hyde Park, London
Good location, but rather fusty and over-priced
The hotel is on a block with many medium range hotels near Paddington Station. The location is good, but the hotel is rather old-fashioned and fusty for the prices it charges. The mattress was very uncomfortable (could feel the springs) and the room wasy very warm. We didn't want A/C but a more effective fan would haev been good. The staff is nice and the breakfast was better than expected, but the rates really should be lower than they were for what you get.

Better Than Intially Expected But No Air Con
At first I wasn't thrilled to get a first floor room next to the lobby and entrance but the room turned out to be better than expected and surprisingly quiet. However, the window is street level so if open it could be noisy and you might get smokers smoke off the sidewalk. The room was a bit warm but I was still comfortable. Beware that the hotel does not have air conditioning so if you are in London on a hot day it might be an issue. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was good. The hotel is a converted town house. They did a really good job building it out but I think overall hotel experience varies on whichever room you are assigned. Very clean. Good bed. I guess what I paid was about average for London with the location but I still thought the price was a little high. I've paid a fair bit less for similar.

Definitely will return
This is a wonderful hotel in a great location. Very convenient to Paddington Station, close to Hyde Park, and an easy walk to the West End.

Good place to stay but room was a bit too warm
The room was small but OK - very clean with a nice size bath and very good water pressure for a shower. The woman at the desk was helpful but not that friendly. The room was too warm so a bit uncomfortable. Heat was definitely not needed to be on during of my stay. Also the lift was out of order when I needed to check out so carrying bags down from the 4th floor was quite inconvenient. Convenient to tube and Kensington park for a nice walk. Lots of places to eat nearby even if none were that exciting. Wi-fi was slow too but I did have Wi-fi in my room . Breakfast was fine with plenty of choices

Great breakfast, great service, excellent beds. Only issue: it was a warm night - there's no air conditioning and the window only opened 2 inches.
