****Beware of the holds/deposit****
I was only aware of the $200 deposit/hold by reading reviews I was NOT advised by the customer service rep at the time of booking my reservation... When I checked into the hotel the agent advised that it was a $200 deposit/hold PER DAY. I was staying 2 days so a $400 hold was placed on my card. Upon check out I checked my account and found one hold for $400 (which I expected), another hold for $250, and a hold for $100. Called to inquire about the hold and was transferred to a vmail. I left a message and 24hrs later no one has contacted me. The $400 hold and the $100 did come off but the $250 hold has not and I have no idea what it is for. Overall the hotel is beautiful and the staff is attentive. I stayed in a Biltmore suite with an ocean view. The room was beautiful, but the butler service wasn't what I thought it would be. I asked for 2 items to be ironed. I was advised they only ironed 2 items complimentary per stay for any other items I would have to pay. While I was there I also viewed the king and queen room and they were also nice. If I ever stay here again I would DEFINITELY scale down with the room and put that money elsewhere

This could be a great hotel. Premises are amazing
But service is hit and miss...50/50. In some cases it was great like during breakfast in the Ola restaurant. We preferred the made to order omelettes over the buffet. Doormen were generally nice, so were front desk people. The bartenders Tuesday night in the VC Lounge had a higher than thou attitude and the service was a joke. Had a minor flood in bathroom when shower leaked all over. Sink drain stopped working and needed repair. Ice machine started spewing water and had to be fixed. No room cleaning Sunday eprivacy lite off make up room on. Contacted butler who took care of it. Received no turn down service that night. Received no turn down service Tues night. Txtd butler who provided $50 room credit. Ola Restaurant will make omelettes if you ask but they are not on the menu. Prices for room service are different between TV menu and room service menu. Sign says items in room will be replenished each day but we only received more chips snickers and club soda after asking for them. Were told chips only provided when available. No wait service while at the pool. People had to find a waiter. Pool service was fine once you found help. VC bartender attitudes when using complimentary drink vouchers provided by butler for previous service issues. Empty glass in front of bartender sat for 25 min before asking if I needed anything. Only one other person at the bar. When it started getting busy was when we were asked but not when it was slow.

Exceptional 10.0
We booked a last minute New Year's trip to Puerto Rico and were thrilled with the Condado Vanderbilt. We stayed in two Heritage rooms, which were very well appointed (huge TV; lights in closets; an insanely comfy bed; espresso machine, kettle, and fridge stocked with freebies like soda, water, and snacks; and crowned with well-designed marble bathroom with both a soaking tub and shower!). The hotel has multiple outdoor decks, pools, and areas for lazing about on its property (the smaller ones for adults only while the big pool attracts the families) as well as beach access and service for chairs, towels, etc. The Condado ocean water was a little rough while we stayed there, but impeccably clean and all sand (no rocks or even shells to be had!) and shallow so perfect for jumping waves; plus, there is another beach about a half mile walk down Ashford avenue in a little cove for those that want calmer seas (not affiliated with the hotel but easy to rent chairs etc.). The service was extraordinary, giving us a feeling of genuine welcome. My dad got a deep tissue massage at the spa, which really helped his aching back. They have our delicious ice pops every once in a while at the pool which was a nice touch. As with any other place in PR, things can take a little longer than on the Northeast coast of the US, so plan ahead for eating (it took at least 30-45 min to get food after ordering here and everywhere else we ate!). But really exceptional overall worthy of 5 stars!

A Perfect Stay In Puerto Rico
If you are going to San Juan and looking for a hotel, you only need to know two words: Condado Vanderbilt. I cannot say enough about how amazing our experience was at this property. From beginning to end, the staff at the Condado Vanderbilt completely took care of us. I traveled to Puerto Rico with 3 of my girlfriends. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent treatment. We were greeted with warm smiles and champagne! A very handsome and friendly bellhop, Eduard, took us to our room. Along the way, he gave us great recommendations for food, activities, and drinks. Every day, we received first class service and great recommendations. The house keeping staff was amazing. Every day, we returned to a spotless room. One day, our jaws dropped once we entered the room because it was so spotless! Of course, we made sure to contact the front desk to find out who serviced our room and left them a huge tip. When it was time to check out, we sincerely did not want to leave. There was an issue with our bill but the front desk agent cleared it up quickly and removed the charges from my account. When I go back to Puerto Rico, this is the only place I’m staying. There is no better hotel!

Amazing vacation, except for hotel food.
My family and I stayed here at the beginning of April 2018. Very child friendly. Staff is very kind and mostly energetic. Pool and beach service are top notch. This is where you want to stay if you are going to the beach. The chairs/cushions/umbrellas are all provided and set up for you. They are clean and vibrant and make the other hotels look like garbage (who don’t offer cushions nor do they set up your towels on the chairs). This made our beach experience a 10/10. The pool area is the same type of service. There is a small public park in between the hotel and the beach area that has a walkway which leads you to the beach. This was actually an awesome part of the process. Lots of people walking dogs and hanging out there on the grass. Room was as expected. 8.5 out of 10. The only knock on the hotel is that the food is very expensive and it was pretty bad. We went to the taco restaurant and the bistro. Taco place was decent. Mostly just ok. The bistro was very bad. They served small portions and we didn’t finish any of the plates that we ordered. Their service was very good nonetheless. The next few days we walked around to local restaurants on Ashford and those were awesome. They really completed our trip. Try Serafina, Yuerba Buena (dinner), Pannes, Crepe Maker and for a quick meal in your bathing suit, Latina Star (breakfast/lunch). All within walking distance.
