Nostalgia Hotel Beijing Confucius Temple, Beijing
Nice hotel in hutong area.
Very welcoming staff. Nice room and great location. Very good breakfast buffet for a great price. It is in a very historic area of Beijing. Many good places to eat nearby.

Would not stay again
Hotel was poorly located in some winding, confusing back alleys. The area seemed safe, but taxis wouldn’t go in there so had to wander around looking for it myself. Hotel was old and outdated. Poor design in bathroom where everything gets soaked and saw bugs. Bed was ok. Toiletries given was nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. But I wouldn’t stay here again.

Pleasant, atmospheric hotel
Pleasant hotel in an interesting Beijing hutong. Many great food choices a 10-minute walk to Andingmen street. Service was friendly, though English was sparse. Room quiet and clean. Glassed-in shower rather revealing.

The people at front desk are so great! I really enjoyed staying there, and will stay there again if I go back to Beijing.

lovely, perfect location, nice price
Really lovely hutong hotel. The staff were wonderful - fairly limited Chinese, but enough to be fine (though we speak some). Very small room with a bathroom enclosed in glass, with pull-down shades for privacy - so fairly tight and a bit unusual by US standards (and may not be ideal for, say, friends traveling together), but it worked just fine for my teenager and me. Absolutely fantastic location, steps away from the Confucius Temple, Lama Temple, Ditan Park, and 2 subway stops (Line 2/5 at one and 5 at the other - the subway system is an ideal way to get around Beijing, so this is really a plus) - and yet the hutong location doesn't make you feel like you're in icky tourist zone. Do be prepared for a 5-7 minute walk into the hutong streets once a cab drops you off on a man road (Yonghegong, most likely) - he's not ditching you, just won't go back in there. We had to ask someone for directions (when we did so, we showed that person the hotel name and address that I'd printed in super-sized font in Chinese for that purpose). I would definitely stay here again.
