In my opinion, this is a decent budget hotel for travelers who want to spend most time OUT of the hotel seeing wonderful Merida and nearby places in Yucatan state AND who speak serviceable Spanish. This hotel does NOT have a lot of amenities. You MIGHT get a better rate if you speak Spanish well and just call them directly.
PLUSSES: VERY good sightseeing location. Right near two of the main long-distance bus stations in Merida. Right on edge of Center, and close to airport. There is parking. The hotel has laundry service on some days, at a reasonable rate. Lobby has some snacks/drinks at reasonable prices. Lots of good normal-priced restaurants in the neighborhood. There is at least one large suite room (2 nice showers even) at reasonable cost, which we stayed in (family of five)--a lot of hotels don't have such rooms. Room cleaning was professional. All but one of the staff was friendly. Room had decent AC and TV.
MINUSES: No phone, no clothes hangers, no cups (ask for plastic ones), no clock, etc. Physical condition of walls, decor, bedsheets, etc is NOT what most US travelers will expect in a hotel. No safe in room or at front desk. Some of the staff were not familiar with rather basic things in the neighborhood, so don't expect much in way of tour/event guidance (go to tourist info offices). There is a pool, but unheated and water a bit cloudy: we didn't use it, maybe mostly because we were out having fun all day.
