NOT a hotel but a simple hostel - EXTREMELY NOISY
be warned: the Wasabi is a hostel. It is literally facing a small but very busy and noisy JR train station (trains every 5 minutes) and there is literally no noise insulation. The hostel call themselves proudly "business hotel". The worst joke ever. They simply have soom "private" rooms on the 3rd floor where they hardly manage to put 3 tatamis. When they accomodate 3 people in a room there is no space at all for any - even small pieces - of luggage. The bathroom is the smallest, the oldest and the dirtiest we have seen during our 2 weeks trip in Japan. Also it was the only one where it was specified it was no drinking water! The walls offer no noise insulation at all. Not only can you hear the trains, the announcements of the trains but also the alarms the guests set next door. Miserable conditions. By the way we were not allowed to checkin or even see the rooms when we arrived around lunch time. We could deposit the luggage but had to come back later. We could check and realized the noise issue in the private room was catastrophic. We had a planned a 2 nights stay. I immediately cancelled the 2nd night but they insisted on charging me 50% of the 2nd night which is totally unfair as it was cancelled more than 24 hours in advance. They relocated us in a room which I believe was a bit less noisy as not facing directly the station. I can only discourage every potential guest to book at the Wasabi if you expect anything else that a basic hostel service.

Average at best...
Based on my experience, I would rate this guest house as average at best. We stayed in a private room and it was quite small, but this is normal in Tokyo. A few points raised awareness regarding the hotel's cleanliness, such as a stinking entrance hall (due to many shoes placed there) and a very stinky curtain in our bathroom. Overall, I would say this place is a bit overpriced for what it offers. One week prior to this, we had stayed in another hotel which was cheaper and much better than this one... So do your research.

Very tiny for 3 people! But close to the station!
It was right by the station, which was great, but for a triple room, there was no room to walk around once the 3 futons were laid out. We had to put our luggage and the little table in the doorway entrance once the futons were out. When they were folded up, we still barely had room to move around. But at least we had a private bathroom in the room.
