    Paradise in the City
We wanted to take a romantic vacation within our own city. In the summer, an outdoor pool is hard to find in the city, so we decided to go stay in a hotel with a rooftop pool. The pool was not too big but lovely and heated. The food and drinks are NYC rooftop price but people were very friendly. We enjoyed the swim in the rain. The life guard told us that it does get very packed (with people lying around on the floor) when the weather is good, which I am glad I missed. The check-in and check-out was so fast - I never had that experience. It was great, but I did got a little worried and I hope they gave a little more information. There isn't much food in the hotel, but if you walk out there is lots of good food choices, so that was not an issue. There was good amount of children time to time. It is probably because it is summer and children are on vacation. Some of criticism are the elevator was very slow. I think there isn't enough elevators for amount of guests. The other one is that the room was not so new. The sink was bit old looking, but it was still pretty clean. I would come back.

    NOT happy at all
I booked this hotel as a first time traveler to New York City. I was very hopeful after reading the reviews that we would have a great experience. Sadly, we did not. The first night we arrived they told us that hotels.com had cancelled our booking. It was 2am and we had called around 5pm the day before to let them know we would be late. We were not told that our booking was cancelled at 5pm, so now at 2am I was being lied to in order for them to cover up a mistake. Additionally, after I contacted hotels.com about the error and supposed cancellation, they confirmed for me that our booking was never cancelled by hotels.com. We were put in a suite that night and then had to be moved to our room the next day. The new room was not very clean and I found a toothbrush holder in the bathroom from the previous guest. On top of that they said we were getting some kind of deluxe room for the trouble, which was laughable. No need to lie again, really. We have stayed in rooms that were many times nicer than this, and this room by no stretch of the mind could be considered deluxe in anyway. After checkout I find that our final statement was overcharged by $670.04 from the previously agreed upon amount that my hotels.com account reports. My family and I plan to stay in New York again in the future and will never consider staying at the Royalton again. With so many hotels to choose from in New York I am sure there are 1000's of better options.

We enjoyed our stay at the Royalton Park Avenue. The room was spacious and the staff was very friendly. The view from the rooftop bar is spectacular. One small complaint is that it took an hour to get ice from room service. We would definitely return.
