Hotel San Gabriel, Ronda
Management has lost its focus
The property is well located and is beautiful and interesting. The gentleman that checked us in was tepid & certainly not outgoing or friendly. When asked about recommendations for places that have offer vegetarian tapas, he had no idea. It's his business to know where to direct people, but he was not helpful at all. That said, the wifi was the best I've seen in a hotel in a few years, averaging 30 Mbps download, but later in the evening topping 50 Mbps (I'm a tech nerd and always check these things). The TV was small, there were several loose tiles in the floor, there was no safe in the room, nor was there a coffee or tea maker in the room, no shampoo & no shower cap for women, just soap in a dispenser. Basic breakfast was €5, but wasn't worth it. Better to walk into town to Granier where you get FAR better coffee and better value for your money. There is a small courtyard where they allowed people to smoke, below several room windows. I'm asthmatic and the smoke came right into the room. That was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I can't recommend this hotel to anyone. It is coasting on the fame of celebrities who stayed there years ago and has an air of snobbery towards current guests as if they are fortunate to be staying there. They don't understand the hotel business and what makes guests want to return and recommend the property. It was a disappointment. It is not a 4 star hotel, it's more like a mediocre B&B.

Old world charm on a mountaintop!
The hotel is in the oldest part of the city. Formally a private home. Very old but very well maintained. Our navigation had some trouble locating it's tucked away location. You cross a stone bridge traversing a gorge to arrive! The staff was kind and helpful. Breakfast did not have as much variety as our other hotels in Spain but the coffee was terrific.

Outstanding Hotel with furnishings to match
One of best stays to date for 30 day trip. Room was decorated in period furniture as was the rest of the property. It was good enough for Hemingway and Rick Steves in the same century you can't get better than that. Excellent breakfast and ideal location for access to the bridge.

Nuevo (new) is old and old is cool
I saw a picture of this amazing bridge Nuevo bridge Ronda Spain and I was a bit obsessed with getting to see it for myself. Of course this "new" bridge was built in 1735 so I loved that it was the new bridge. We stayed on the "old" side of town. I guess before the bridge was built? And we loved it. The people were just so friendly and it was what I imagined Spain would be like. The town is not huge but there are plenty of things to see as far as cool churches and just gorgeous countryside. We took the Top Buggy tour and as I suspected it was a highlight. The hotel was so quaint. I loved the decor of our room and the whole place right down to the front door. It even had a little theater room (although we never had time for a movie). Breakfast was plenty even without the extra that my man ordered every day and was on the table the moment we walked into the dining area. I would stay at this charming hotel in this charming town again. I guess that I'm hoping too many people won't read this....I don't like the huge crowds.

San Gabriel was AWESOME1
The San Gabriel and its staff were awesome. We were treated like royalty. The room was one of the best ever out of thousands. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi that solved our aching muscle issues. And it was old Spain style. Say thank you to Pedro!
