We reserved a room at the Allington Inn & Suites based on their pet friendly policy. When we arrived, however, we were told there were no pet friendly rooms available. Needless to say, we were disappointed, as our dog would have to spend the 11 degree night in our vehicle. We did not expect the disgraceful corporate chaos that would then ensue: Within 30 minutes of checking into our room, the hotel staff visited us on 3 separate occasions, accusing us of having our dog; we felt these actions were unnecessary, invasive and contrary to Colorado's hotel privacy law, which we stated to hotel staff at the time. It should be noted that the hotel manager attempted to coerce a staff member to lie about what he witnessed. The hotel manager proceeded to call the police and we received a visit to our room. After having explained the situation to the officer and demonstrating the dog, was in fact, in our vehicle, he declined to take action and advised his presence seemed unnecessary given the nature of the call and our blatant compliance. The 5 follow-up calls to corporate ownership were not met with the level of professionalism expected, as we did not receive an apology, refund nor an adequate response within a reasonable time frame. Having since clarified the hotel's pet policy with Travelocity, the limited rooms at the hotel can only be reserved upon check-in, which is not a reasonable policy, given the hotel's very remote location and limited availability of pet friendly r

    A mistake
My husband and I stayed here on our anniversary between skiing at Steamboat and Winter Park. We chose it because of the location and because it's pet-friendly. It was a mistake. The hot tub/pool was very full of chemicals and made my skin itch, the shower was weak, and the pillows lumpy. Our room was above the fireplace, so it was extremely hot all night, even after we turned off the heat and opened the window. Additionally, the night desk clerk smoked under our window, and our room filled with smoke. That clerk also talked extremely loudly on her phone complaining about other employees all night. She even said on the phone "I'm outside, so no one can hear me." It wasn't much better when she was inside; we heard her all night. I tried to call down and complain, but she didn't pick up the phone. Additionally, we left a toiletry bag there, which they were nice enough to tell us about. However, I asked if they could mail it to us and charge us, and the lady at the desk said yes, but that the manager would have to call me back and confirm. I called several times that week and was given a variety of excuses: "everyone is sick" (probably where I picked up the worst cold that I've had in years) and "the manger is busy trying to buy another business". My husband's glasses were in the bag, so I gave up and drove all the way back the next weekend. The desk clerk was chatting on the phone (not business) and made me wait. I did get the bag back, but we will definitely not ever go back.

    Poor 2.0
It was a very VERY dirty room. We stayed at room 204 ( room for pets). There was a smudge on one of the walls that it could have been blood, chocolate or feces for all I know. I gigantic dry bugger on another wall. Electric sockets falling out of the wall (I was traveling with two kids). When these issues were brought up to front desk we didn't even get a "sorry". THe WiFi was pretty much non-existent. Even the ethernet was of no use because the socket was also falling off the wall so we couldn't connect the cable. Breakfast was cold food and very cheap. Not even some fresh fruit. The bleach in the pool was so strong it was hard to breath. If I'm going to a hotel and I'm paying a very low rate, at least I know what I will be encountering, but this hotel was charging the same ( THE SAME!!) as a Hilton inn hotel. Ridiculous. This was our break between camping stays, a little bit of R&R and it turned out to be a disaster.

Unclean shower, rude staff, gym not as advertised
We are difficult to disappoint when it comes to the hospitality industry and usually as positive/understanding as we can be. However, this place was not well kept. The bed was ok, comfy enough and the bedroom space was fine. But, the shower was NOT clean. Hairs and soap scrum everywhere. The walls were paper thin, and made it difficult to sleep. The housekeeping staff was incredibly rude, knocking on our door aggressively and reminding us we needed to be out prior to checkout time. I have never experienced such behavior from a hotel housekeeper. The last disappointment is that the hotel advertises a "fitness center" online. But, the fitness center only consisted of one treadmill and a bike inside of a dusty room with another random outdoor bike propped up against the cardio equipment previously mentioned (I assume it belonged to an employee). We would not stay here ever again

Lack of empathy, and just people skills ..
As a pilot I frequently stay in hotels all the world. The early check in policy was an inconvenience, but how such a policy was explained was unacceptable. There are way to deliver bad news, this was not delivered with any empathy like they made the policy. The early morning lady was refreshing with a great smile and a welcoming attitude. What a shift, I was pleasantly surprised. I will contact the owner once I find who it is. For policy changes to happen, and train people on how To deliver such policy information is where this issue is. I have stayed there for the last 6 years on my annual Mc ride. Funny thing this was the ONLY hotel we had an issue with and I have been trailing 3 weeks on bikes. It will be remembered. I spent 12 nights in Europe, Italy and Switzerland riding bikes, and the rest here in Colorado, New Mexico and tonight in Texas. I can say I haven’t seen this policy so strictly enforced with no empathy. As an airline captain I frequently run into policy conflict let’s say. But some empathy can and does go a lone way when policy is enforced.
