Monterey Non-Smokers Motel, Albuquerque
Excellent choice for downtown Albuquerque.
Good size clean room with upgraded bath. Good quality furniture. No closet but had hanging bar. Free WiFi was good and is secured. Adequate electrical outlets, refrigerator and microwave. Better quality towels than most motels of similar price range. Plenty of free parking in front of the room. Relatively quiet despite being on a busy street. Several good restaurants nearby. The restored El Vado motel is adjacent and has reopened as a shopping location but still has some motel rooms. Same owners as the Monterey. Good location close to the downtown area and the Old Town Plaza area. Reasonably priced.

Route 66
This is a well kept part of Route 66 history. Opened in 1938 and it does take you back there. Nice Hotel

We booked this hotel for the pool but arrived and were not allowed to use it because they hadn’t put chemicals in and cleaned it. What hotel advertises a pool and only opens it on a rigid schedule of May 30th? Use common sense. Either don’t advertise it or open it when it’s warm and hot out.

The room was very nice, mattress was firm, which is a plus, and, while older, the property is well maintained.

Totally fine for a quick overnight.
Overall it was fine and I would stay here again. Room is small and decor is very dated (the bedspread looks like it is from 1991) but it is totally fine for it's purpose. The employee who checked me in was incredibly friendly and helpful. My only real concern is that the cleanliness was not up to par. There was soap scum on the shower walls and the sink was not as it should be. It was not enough to be a concern, but it is obviously not a Marriott. Room has a mini-fridge which is always a nice touch. They have a laundry room, and a pool that is open in the summer. There was some road noise but nothing beyond what is expected for the location. I can't speak to whether noise from other rooms would be a problem because I was the only guest on the night I stayed.
