The west side YMCA room was tiny, filthy, had cockroaches running around it, a 12” TV with no major channels and very poor reception..I had requested a room next to the bathroom a month before arriving since I am a 68 year old man hydrating for a marathon.. my room was two long hallways down from the bathroom and the lady at the desk was rude when I asked if I could be moved closer..the bed had a thin mattress on springs which I didn’t trust for being free of bedbugs…needless to say, I did not sleep at all that night..finally, the bathrooms were disgusting with cramped shower stalls for three and no shelving to place toiletries or clothing… I was booked for two nights, but after the marathon, I showered and caught a train to southern New Jersey to stay with my son.. it was a nightmare experience and this is just a brief synopsis…

My only complaint is that the shared bathroom was a long walk from my room. Nothing to be done about that but maybe ask for a closer room next time. And there will definitely be a next time. I really enjoyed my stay here.

I have been to this property at least 15 times. Its a wonderful location and overall value. However my number one criteria is workable wi-fi. It had always worked before but threw me out at least 50 times during my 3 day stay. I dont know what they have changed but this is a decision buster for me. I realise I am atypical. All my travel involves urgent work component. The ymca is mainly serving people on holiday
