The hotel overall was great. The staff was very friendly and the location was amazing. The problem is with the room we were placed in. Our room is normally used as walk through for the bar patrons to access the patio. Yes, our room had a door that opened directly into the bar. The bar operated until 0100. And our room was smack dab in the middle of the action. For a 20 some year old who was visiting to party it would have been ok. But I am far from being 20. The staff did mention it at check in but we were not sure what to expect. If we were staying longer than 2 days I would have asked to be moved. All night right outside both our room doors were loud drunk people. I’m not even sure why they make this a guest room. At $259 s night I’d expect a better experience. The bathroom was tiny. Pretty much had to sit on the toilet to brush your teeth. And I know this is a weird complaint, but there was no cold water. The shower had one temperature. Burn your skin off. We did figure out that if we ran the sink on the hottest setting, the shower would be a somewhat bearable temp. The room was nicely decorated and had a nice feel but the carpets were very dirty. After one trip to the bathroom and seeing my white socks turn brown, I always wore my shoes in the room. I guess this is due to the traffic that normally moves from the bar to the patio through there. The rest of the hotel seemed nice and so I will say my comments are strictly for room 3.

Interesting History, Terrible place to stay
We were really excited to stay here, but after arriving that excitement didn't last long. Let me first say that all of the staff was beyond friendly and did everything they could to accommodate us. When we first walked in our room, we noticed a door on the other side of the room that had a chair pushed up against it. No biggie, but kind of odd. Well, we found out that the door led to the bar area. It was incredibly loud in the evening as you could hear every conversation that was going on in the bar. The bathrooms butted up against our bathroom wall and since the place is so old (i'm assuming this is why) you could hear everything when someone would go to the restroom. Down to paper towels being pulled down. Our bathroom was tiny that if you sat regular on the toilet, the sink was literally in your lap. Not exaggerating. You could side saddle it, but then the toilet seat would would slide off. They were fully booked and we had to pay in advance to book the room, so we were stuck there for 2 nights. I will say that we are glad we can now say that we have stayed here, however, it was NOT worth the price we paid. We love NOLA and will continue to keep visiting here, but we will definitely not be staying here again. Maybe you will have better luck if you just tell you absolutely do not want Room 3...

Poor 2.0
Poor room exchange
Our room was extremely hot, so we requested another room. The manager asked that we give the room time to cool, since they were having issues with compressor. After 3 uncomfortable hours, my husband went downstairs because he couldn't take the heat anymore. We were offered another room, however, it was half the size of our original room, and we were told that there would only be a very small difference in price. We were expecting a much greater discount considering the failure of the ac, and the fact that the second room did not compare at all to the first room. To make matters worse, we experienced power failure 2 days later in our room which lasted an hour. After speaking to the receptionist, she contacted management by phone, where she was instructed on checking the breakers. Fortunately, that was all that was required.

The hotel is nice and everyone is very friendly.
We really liked the hotel except for the fact that we had requested a king room. The room we got was directly off of the hotel bar (we walked out of our room, right into the bar). We didn't know this until we checked in. At that time, we were told that the bar closed at 11 pm, so we were fine with that. On 2 of the 4 nights we were there, however, it was open until 1:30 in the morning! And, it was LOUD!! We could hear every conversation going on out in the bar. I think that the hotel should make it clear when a reservation is made that this is what the customers will be getting. Some who like to stay out late wouldn't mind, I'm sure, but it was too much for us! We probably won't stay here again because we'll be worried that we would end up with that room again.

Not worth $$
I've been to NOLA about a dozen times and this is the worst place I've stayed. I thought it would be a little bed and breakfast type hotel, but it wasn't at all. Our room was TINY and we couldn't both be in the bathroom it was so small. The bed was comfortable...that was about it. I don't know why even say they have a breakfast. There was a tiny fridge stocked with yogurt and old bagels. I couldn't find a toaster. The coffee was not drinkable. And, every time we went to front desk there was a little sign that said "Be Right Back!" and the staff was always outside smoking. Not a good experience. There are way too many better hotels for the same cost in New Orleans. Had a great time in the city but will not be back to this hotel.
