Is this hotel about to fall down !
The hotel was shabby on arrival the room was on the second floor and quite small the most astonishing thing was the window latch was missing on one side and there was a gap so you could hear everything out side and feel a draught, the window and work work were filthy, you could also hear the people talking very loudly in the next room and their TV . I was not amused and having complained twice they did nothing, then my partner said I'll try as your so fed up, he came back up saying they said they can do nothing but after I had a go their moving us to a triple room. OMG the state of the triple room was emence ,Yes it was big but ..Window pane was falling out of frame so no way we could open it ! The bottom of the window rotten and the privacy screen was disintegrating, Floor tiles were cracking as you stepped on them, the top window in the bedroom wouldn't close so it was cold, the radiator in the bedroom didn't work, there was a broken chandelier glass surrounding the light bulb ,broken chaise long, there were holes in the walls and paper coming away from the wall and the bed side lamp didn't work, stain on carpet. This hotel is in such a state we went here seven years ago and it was so much better we were even up graded to a suite but this time it was just terrible . The only good thing was the breakfast and the bar being open 24 hours and serving food that was just edible. PLEASE SORT IT OUT ! It's in a lovely location and could be lovely if you sort it out .

Hotel fine, booking rooms not.
Booking through the website meant that our booking for two rooms (together) or at least nearby, paid for together did not happen and when we got to the hotel one room on one floor and another on another floor. Wasn't happy! For breakfast down as two singles! But this was not an issue.

First stay in Yarmouth and whilst main attraction was the horse racing festival, which was excellent, found it an interesting and enjoyable place, if a "bit tired" on the hotel front (general not just The Nelson), for a 3 day out of season break. The Nelson Museum well worth a visit. Had excellent meals and wine at Chicos and The Quayside Plaza. Starters, Seafood and meat equally good at both as was value for money and service. The Planet Papadum also served a very good and authentic Indian in interesting, almost art deco, surroundings. A sense of humour and a bit of patience needed with inexperienced staff but the food more than compensated.

Great location. Value accommodation.
Location could not have been better, literally on the seafront almost opposite the pier. The bonus of free (local authority) parking adjacent to the hotel was very welcome. The hotel is very traditional, typical of what you would expect for a seaside town. My room on the third floor was not easy to reach via very steep and narrow turning staircases but it's location made it quiet which is what I required. The attic room was small but acceptable although the numerous low beams caught me on on more than a few occasions.
