Odd arrival / check in. Needs touch of paint and a
Arrival was a bit like being in the crystal maze. No-one to greet us, just envelopes and directions that keys were in a different place. Then up outdoor wooden steps with wet leaves on ( although these were made safer with some shabby wire nailed into steps). Residents door at top of steps then opened outwards , so had to literally balance suitcases and ourselves on small area at the top to open the door and get in. Then when door was opened an overwhelming smell of old fried food . Room 6 was small but adequate , was also warm, good provisions for tea, coffee milk , hot chocolate and cookies. Shower was very slippery as no shower mat provided so had to improvise with a towel in shower tray . Bathroom small. Room had no wardrobe , but did have coat hooks. Mattress was a memory foam one which was like sleeping on a marshmallow and rolled onto middle. Breakfast was ok although thought the bacon and sausage were off as was an odd colour,. Couldn't be sure if sausage was off or whether a very strong odd flavour so didn't eat. Didn't want to offend staff so did not ask for a replacement. But staff were very attentive. I would not recommend this stay and definitely not at the price of £90 . Sorry. Also would help if the car park gate was open on arrival at 4pm !

A Thursford solution
A handy hotel if you are visiting the Thursford Collection or the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. Run by a husband and wife team, he is an excellent chef. Breakfast was (unusually) not a buffet for cereals, fruit etc but the cooked breakfast had a wide choice including salmon on scrambled egg, which is highly recommended. Room prices reflects the lack of local accommodation in the Thursford area, and at £90 was a little expensive.

Bug infestation on my room and when I requested to move room they said 'there's no point because they will be in there too. I left and stayed elsewhere

Lovely place to stay
A lovely place to stay. No problems and the owner looked after everything with attention and care. Convenient for the race horse and town. Excellent

First class accommodation.
Wanted somewhere to stay after a visit to the races, chose the Blue Boar as it was so close, and we weren't disapointed every thing was first class the land lady was lovely and made us feel so welcome. The room we had was spotlessly clean which included a generous welcome tray, and our evening meal and the breakfast was first class,we would definitely stay again and will recommend it to anyone.
