Day Before Machu Picchu
Nice location, walking distance to Train and Bus Station, the Aqua Calinete is excellent small Andes town, somewhat cold in the early morning and late night in hotel

Adequate Hotel. Not Bad, Not Good. Just Okay.
We stayed one night and got to the hotel pretty late and left pretty early due to the schedule of our tours. Pros: The staff was friendly and courteous. They even upgraded our room for free so that we would be more comfortable. Free Wi-Fi was also appreciated. The room was clean when we arrived and adequately furnished. Two beds, a flat panel TV, a wardrobe, a heater, and a small table and desk, and some lamps. U.S. Electrical plugs is a nice touch too. Cons: The main gripe I had about the room was the badly designed drainage from the bathroom. It's an open shower and the water easily escapes and collects on the bathroom floor which would be okay had there been a drain. Unfortunately, there wasn't and the water eventually pooled and streamed to the bedroom area. We had to utilize our used towels to dam the water and prevent it from streaming to the rest of the bedroom. Though the breakfast was free, it was pretty lacking. The restaurant was supposed to open at 4:30am, but when we got there at 5 am, half the food wasn't prepared and available yet. When we first got there, only the cereal and bread was available. Conclusion: The hotel was decently priced and adequately achieved my expectations.

Would stay here again
Close to bus stop in order to be taken to Machu Picchu entrance . Very helpful staff, provided walking sticks to climb Huayna Picchu at no cost. Great buffet breakfast , sewer, drain from bathroom has unpleasant odor, probably from closeness to the river, I encountered this in another hotel in Peru

Arrived in the morning, proceeded the check in, presented passport and all but left the luggage in the lobby as we had to meet our tour guide to go to MachuPicchu. Upon our return the lobby was packed and yet our check in wasn't ready. Had to go through line all over. Wi Fi did not work on phones and lap top. Bathroon flooded after each shower due to leakage. Make sure you book riverfront apartments which has a balcony, otherwise you will be sleeping in a train station platform with the noise and shaking early in the morning 'till late night. No fridge, heater or aircon. Only positive review is the breakfast which is fair. The worst cost benefit out of 10 stays in Peru, same price as Hilton Garden Inn Cusco and yet, by far, uncomparable standards. Stayed in Trujillo in a better and much more comfortable room for one fifth of the price.
