Hostel was great. Bathrooms are kinda small. Besides that, rooms were cleaned every day, new sheets when, lively crowds, decent breakfast. Very pleasing experience overall

So so hostel
The location is super nice and the chilling area is good but rest of the conditions is so so. The price is good enough considering to hostel's location

This hostel does a good job of meeting a variety of needs. There's a smoking room for those who want to smoke, but it keeps the smoke out of the rest of the common areas for non smokers. There's decent food at a reasonable price if for some reason you don't want to go out, and there's plenty of drinks but no pressure to partake if you don't want to drink. And there's free coffee/tea/juice even if you don't pay for breakfast in the morning, which is a great perk. Like at most hostels, facilities are a bit cramped but totally adequate. Staff are friendly and accommodating - I fell ill while I was staying there and they were super kind and helpful.

Expensive for a hostel; but well worth it.
Went through an emotional time to stay the least during my stay in Amsterdam here; and the staff was beyond comforting when they didn't need to be. I find this to be expensive for a hostel (I stay in one in Paris for cheaper...) BUT it's location can't be beat. You're literally AT Vondelpark and around the corner from the Rijkmuseum. Showers and bathrooms are great. Would stay again.

Well located, whether you are using public transport or renting a bike. Lots of storage, and very large storage space too. The staff is helpful and it has a very good vide, nice bar and cool guests. They clean it very well everyday. I enjoyed my Stay a lot.

Broke down palace
The flying pig is great for younger folks but I felt I was too old to be there (I'm 53). Most disappointing was the fact that on my floor 3 of the toilets were broken and useable and 3 of the showers were out of order. The place seems run down.

Great hostel
The Flying Pig Uptown is a friendly and well-staffed hostel with people who keep it in good condition. The location is fantastic, right at the edge of the museum district. Breakfast is excellent and includes breads, cereals, cheese and hard boiled eggs. Every bed has a pretty spacious locker associated with it during your stay (you can buy a padlock if you want.) Every bed has a plug and shelf. There are some downsides--the common area can get quite crowded and loud, there are a lot of narrow/steep stairs to go anywhere, and at check out time there is a wait/traffic jam at reception. But those are all minor issues; overall (and especially for the price), highly recommended.

A Backpackers Hostel
When you go there, you have to keep in mind what it is. It’s backpacker’s hostel. And it was perfect for what it is. The staff was great, atmosphere was friendly, and you get the sense that everyone is on a journey and open meeting others.
