La Dolce Vita Barberini, Rome
Nightmare At La Dolce Vita Barberini!
I made a reservation at this place for my daughter. It was for the night of her birthday, while she and a friend were in Rome. After having confirmed, the hotel owner decided that he didn't feel like coming to the hotel to check-in my daughter and her friend. First, he said he was too busy. Then he outright lied, and said the reservation was cancelled. It was not. Then he said it was not his problem, that it was hers. Imagine our horror, when we learned our daughter had to find a place to stay ... at night ... half-way around the world. After our complaint to, the owner continued to lie about what happened. Beware! Book Here At Your Own Risk!

Staff was very nice and helpful. Water pressure in the shower was great! Room large by European standards, and even had an elevator! Breakfast is across the piazza in a little restaurant - very nice. We liked the fact the hotel was in a major tourist site, since there are signs to barberini throughout rome, always pointing us back to the hotel!

Good location, super clean, somewhat noisey.
This is a bed and breakfast, which I don't have a lot of experience with, so some of my opinions may be quite normal. I chose this location because the price was good in comparison to other options in the area, and because it was so close to the metro station. When I arrived, no one was there and I had to wait 25 minutes for someone to arrive, even though I had arranged my time of arrival the night before. This was very frustrating as I was standing there with bags and no cell service or other means of communication. It turns out there rarely is any employees present. This was surprising to me - perhaps normal of B&Bs in Europe. The room itself was the cleanest room I have ever seen in my entire life - absolutely spotless. There was a bit of a funky smell, but we got used to it pretty quickly and only noticed first time we walked into the room after being gone. The walls allow all kinds of sound to come through - we had a noisy neighbor talking on his phone from 3am-5am one night and a family with a baby who cried a lot two other nights. With no employee present to take action, this was frustrating - though I am not entirely sure it is the hotel's fault. The traffic noise from the piazza died down around 10:30 at night, so it was not a problem while sleeping, but quite noticeable if you wanted to take a nap in the afternoon. The room had a large flat screen TV as advertised, but no true English channels.

This is a great B&B!
We stayed at two different B&Bs on this trip with an excursion in between. La Dolce Vita Barberini was by far the best. The location is great; overlooking Barberini plaza with Bernini's Neptune Fountain. Convenient access to transportation and an easy walk to many of the must see sights and shopping for those with high end fashion taste. Good food choices in and nearby the plaza. All of the staff at LDV were great. I will recommend this place to all my friends.

Cooling off in Rome's summer heat
La Dolce Vita is a perfect location for sightseeing in Rome. It is centrally located in Rome's Barberini Piazza, a half block from the Metro subway and close to both city buses and the Hop-on Hop-off sightseeing bus stops. Arrived by elevator (rare in Europe's older buildings) to my air conditioned room which was uniquely decorated in 50's film-noir style with all necessary modern amenities and windows overlooking Bernini's Triton fountain. Front desk is only attended for check-ins so be sure to ask all your questions up front. Many tourist destinations are within walking distance and lots of good restaurants nearby. Using a key for the front door on the square made me feel like a native resident - great trip despite Rome's blistering heat this summer!
