Maxim's Inn, Bangkok

Older place but good budget value, clean, friendly
Friendly staff. TV was broken so they switched it immediately. Comfy mattress, large room, free water, kettle, older place, not fancy, but good budget choice for one or two nights especially in downtown BKK where prices keep creeping higher. I liked the easy access to the Nana Skytrain station, which can get you anywhere you need to go

a gem at the end of the road
After reading some of the other reviews I don't know why they did not like the place. It is a solid 3 hotel. It is clean, bed is comfortable, air conditioning works and the bathroom was good. If I had any complaint it is the following. Very close to Nana station and night life. The bars and massage places have some aggressive marketing techniques and will actually grab your arm. It is a Thailand thing so I am used to it. It is not a place for families with kids as it will foster some questions. The other complaint is that the soi is small. No real way to get a taxi down there but its a short walk so not a big deal. Neither is the hotels fault. THe breakfast was good and had a couple of choices and for 2 dollars US it was a deal especially for two people. I would absolutely stay here again.
