Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here! We were coming to the State Park near by, but I must say the resort was very nice! We could tell upgrades had been made cosmetically! The bed was SUPER comfortable, that is hard to come by it seems when staying somewhere. The only downfall we found was the door to the back porch area stuck and made it hard to open and shut. Will definitely consider staying here in the future!!!

This is NOT the "Resort" advertised!!
The room was old and you could tell, We had no view, Never saw any staff, the Spa was terrible with kids running around, and the continental breakfast was anything but. Overall, not a very good experience for a "resort".

Beautiful resort, worth the trip!!!
Kingwood Resort is a wonderful place to stay for its cleanliness, comfort and location. We have stayed here before and will return due to the pleasant staff, resort amenities like a indoor pool, massages, walking trails and for those who golf, a lovely course. The units are large and have plenty of room. Beds are very comfortable and the view from each individual balcony is awesome. There is a nice restaurant on the grounds as well. The reception area is open 24 hours a day with nice hot fresh coffee. There is a continental breakfast served each morning. A seasonal outdoor pool is also available. There is a beautiful area for weddings, in fact we are thinking of doing a 20 yr renewal ceremony there in July! The town of Clayton just a couple mile drive from the resort and offers plenty of food choices and shopping needs. The only complaints would be the wifi, it is not the greatest and the shower water pressure isn't strong and the water doesn't get hot enough and there is not a microwave in the rooms. We love this place and recommend it to everyone we know even with the minor complaints. We look forward to going back again and again.

Disappointment
Checked in on Dec27, booked specifically for the resturant, website said resturant closed on 12/24 and 12/25. Checked in at dinner time, and was rudely told the resturant was closed for the holidays. Also was charged $12 extra at check in for a "Resort Fee"... which if you read ALL of the fine print you'll see you have to pay it. When we checked into the room there was an information book that states there is a $5 fee to use pool and fitneess area. Breakfast consisted of packaged oatmeal, packaged grits, cereal bagels and 2 types of pastry. Not a lot of choices at all. With a resturant on premises i expected a better selection. The room was dusty, see pics below, the tub was dirty, the toilet still dirty from last guest and I had to fix the lock on the sliding balcony door and the clogged drain in the bathroom. There were stink bugs in the room that dive bombed us all night. The heater was old and loud and there were no extra blankets. It dropped below freezing that night. The view from the guest check in and the room balcony was pretty and the morning staff was very nice.
