Zen-like feel, Modern, High Quality, Friendly
Wanapa is zen-like and enviro-friendly, with spacious palm/cactus gardens, wood beams + heavy tables under the front porch where breakfast is served. Evening meals only available when sufficient guests request. Buffet breakfast is good, set out in small quantities - still fresh! Large pool/patio; pristine overall , surrounded by vegetation, 8 mins drive from the town, excellent supermarket and airport. Airport has VERY few flights but 2 or 3 times/day a plane flies overhead. We had a cheaper basic bedroom (small by American standards) the self catering suites are more spacious. There was only a kettle & instant coffee (+ refrigerator). Another guest lent us a coffee maker & we bought ground coffee. Take individual coffee bags from home? Wanapa encourages a genuinely friendly, yet non-intrusive atmosphere. We made friends and felt welcome. Our room was cleaned alternate days & the plastered floor got sandy at times. Soap is supplied but no other toiletries. On the ground floor, we had no net or interior blinds so had to keep the drapes closed when changing or for morning coffee in bed. Cooling wind helps disperse mosquitos but take insect repellant to eat outside evenings. DIVING AND SNORKELLING is SUPERB , turtles often close to the shore. At peak times book prior car rental (recommended), restaurants and dive shops. A tree frog climbed in our shower window and humming birds dart about. Goats and donkeys roam the area. All part of Wanapa’s charm.
