Due to issues with my flight I arrived several hours after the front desk had closed I was able to contact theHotel and Lucia waited up for me and provided a peaceful easy end to an extremely hectic day. This was my third stay at Dimora Storica Urbana it has become my home in Rome.

Horrible service, more of an apartment than hotel
This is more of an apartment broken up into hotel rooms than a real hotel. The main problem with this hotel was it's management. There were a few friendly younger people who worked there but there is an older lady, that I assume owns the "hotel" and she's HORRIBLE. She is VERY mean and tried to rip us off a few times. We purchased and paid for 2 triple rooms but the online system put our guest totals as 3 in one room and 1 in the other. They only listed to the number of people listed and not the size of the room we paid for. Although we paid extra for 2 triple rooms we received 1 tripe room and 1 single room. The women would not change our room to the larger room we paid for and tried to change us extra for having "extra" people until we called out no, we paid for a room that fits 3 people. She also tried to charge us twice for the room. I approved a payment the day before our arrival and she tried to process another payment with another date. She wouldn't provide any receipts or copies of our information. She made our stay miserable. If you want the experience like you are living in Rome and are willing to give up some of the amenities of a hotel, you may enjoy your stay here. Things were broken in our room (lights). The location is pretty good although hard to find (locals at information desks didn't know how to get there).

A slice of authentic Rome,
Dimora Storica Urbana is a real gem tucked away just off Via Cavour and one block from the Metro. This hotel was perfectly situated for easy access to all Rome has to offer. It also offers a rare opportunity to experience a slice of Roman hospitality provided by the wonderful Lucia and her staff. We enjoyed great meals, shopping, nightlife and a taste of the authentic Rome just steps from our door.

More than average rate..
Good hotel but a lot of keys to enter into the main room. Sometimes it is annoying to open many doors. Wifi was ok but not very good speed.

Somewhat skanky yet convenient
This hotel is very well situated once you get the hang of it. There was a lot of stair climbing both inside and outside the hotel, so I would definitely not recommend this to unfit or elderly people. The room smelled unpleasant, I first though it might be mildew, but I thinki it was just the plumbing. During my last night the bathroom pipes started acting up big time, and I didn't even dare take a shower or flush the toilet. The hotel is old, basically an old townhouse, and more sleazy than quaint. Weirdly enough, I ended up quite enjoying it, and even liking the always helpful, chain-smoking manageress/receptionist/owner (?) of the establishment. I would probably do this hotel again, but I must honestly say that my initial impression was disappointment. My room was of the lowest budget rate, though (still not cheap, mind you). Situated on the top floor it was very calm and restful, absolutely no noise, which is a miracle considering the lively neighborhood. The breakfast was ok at most; rather unhealthy with sickly sweet croissants and sugary youghurts. However: fresh fruit deserves a plus. This budget hotel is for young(ish) people who are in to excercise: besides the many stairs there is a nice enough gym in the basement! You might think going to the gym is a waste of Rome for a tourist. Not at all: I was energized!
