The hotel is beautiful. Hammocks are comfortable and common areas are very zen. Food is outstanding. Very close to the beach, but in a residential neighborhood. We had a few issues with the spot, and while they were not that serious, the hotel didn't seem to offer much in restitution other than an apology. 1) No hot water - when we arrived we noticed there wasn't any hot water. They apologized and assured us someone would be there tomorrow to fix it. We went to the beach the next morning and came back and asked about the repair, and they told us they didn't have spare key to our room so they had been waiting for us to come back. It seemed really unorganized on their part, and they didn't offer to comp a breakfast or anything for the inconvenience. 2) Key to front gate didn't work. In addition to a room key, they give you a key to the front gate which they lock at night. We came back to the hotel around 11:30 pm after dinner and drinks. Our key to the front gate didn't work. We pressed the call button and nobody answered. I called Hotels.com and they couldn't get through either Luckily, after 15 minutes, another guest arrived so we could get in. When we told the staff the next day they went and tested the key and agreed it didn't work on the front gate, and said sorry. I again was surprised by how non-chalant the apology was. We were basically stuck outside the hotel with no way to get in. For what we paid, I would have expected just some kind of gesture on their part.

Don't think I'll be back.
This B&B has friendly staff but it's not in good shape. I don't think it was worth the money. No phone or TV. Too many restrictions and breakfast is not till 8AM. Taxi driver could not find the place. Add $20.00 for taxi fare to the airport. Would only stay here again if I could not find something under $300.

Comfortable stay a block from the beach.
This hotel reminds me a little of a bed and breakfast. There are some rooms with private baths- but a lot are shared baths. It's an older hotel with eclectic decorations that were fun to see. We had a private outdoor shower, it was cool to shower under the stars. The rooms I saw all had their own private patio complete with hammock. The hotel has a hippy vibe, but this conservative lady was still very comfortable. They do in-room massages for a very good price. There is a kitchen where you are welcome to cook your own dinner, as long as it is vegetarian. If you're not, don't worry - there are a lot of great restaurants in San Juan that serve meat. The local meal in Puerto Rico is Mofongo. I can highly recommend going to a restaurant in Old San Juan(can't remember the name) that is kitty corner from the Casa Cortes Choco Bar (go there for a chocolate martini!!!!!!) on the corner of Calle San Justo and Calle San Francisco that has the best mofongo I had the week I was there. We went on the Spoon Food Tour that was recommended by the Dreamcatcher. I also recommend taking a trip to the bio bays for some fun kayaking. There are no TV's or phones in the rooms. The internet was spotty and I lost connection several times. But - I didn't go there to work so I was forced to relax. :)
