Not for the business traveler
Stayed at this hotel due to proximity to SoHo. In reality this is misleading as SoHo is about a 20-25 minute walk. It is somewhat near the subway but it is not the most convenient line if you are trying to get to midtown or Brooklyn. Staff is friendly enough. My double room was very small but had a nice view. There is absolutely no drawer space. They do provide a small closet and a safe. Beds are not the most comfortable – definitely not what you expect by the hotel rating. The hotel is located by a UPS distribution facility and it can get very noisy especially at night-time. Even though they have thick windows the room was loud even at the 14th floor. My room had not been properly cleaned when I checked in. The hardwood floors are good in that they do not hide dirt well so it was easy to tell that it had not been properly cleaned. The room overall was dusty (blinds, window sill, night table). The bathroom seemed clean until I showered: there was hair in the drain trap which caused water to rise! Disgusting! The hotel overall seems to cater to a very young international crowd and it seems they do not have good control on the amount of guests per room. There was a fully stocked mini bar aside from the mini fridge on top of my desk which took over most of the desk so I had it removed. There were also 6 liquor bottles on top of the safe in the closet that I also had removed due to lack of space. Seems to be a party hotel which is not what I was looking for. I stayed 5 nights and

Much better options out there.
A/C was not working, I made several complaints and they couldn't change my room until the last night. I was there for 4 nights. It was hot and unpleasant. Beds are not comfortable, rooms were not clean and housekeeping only cleaned half of my room each day, forgetting to take out trash and remove glasses. Water pressure in showers was awful. They lied to Hotels.com when I called to see if i could be moved to a new hotel because they couldn't fix the ac and couldn't move me to a new room as they said they were full. It was unpleasant as I came back from work every night when they claimed they fixed it then I would have to sit in the room with the manager on duty and the maintenance guy trying to fix the ac night after night. They were not understanding or willing to do anything but give me the service daily fee off but then they charged my card for that anyways. I ended up having to extend my work trip in NYC and I booked a different hotel what a huge difference one block over and much cheaper.

Horrible Security/Loud Parties/Worst Stay
We stayed at this hotel for an important business trip. We arrived late to the hotel, around 11:30 PM, checked in and went to our room. Immediately we were surprised with the lack of security. There is no security guard nor does the hotel require you to have a hotel key to access the floors. Around 12:15 AM we heard an extremely loud party in the room next to us (blasting music/shouting/and aggressive knocking on our door). Clearly the attendants were inebriated. We called to front desk and they stated there was no extra rooms. They were unable to quiet the party, so they assured us the attendants were leaving. We were going to check out, but they promised that no one else would check in to that room. At 3:30 AM the party goers returned and again were crazy/loud. Despite our willingness to leave, the manager promised us they were kicked out and he had changed the locks. We felt trapped in our room, unsafe, and were shocked at the lack of any real security in a NYC four star hotel. I travel a lot and this was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. The loud party is one thing, but the dishonesty and perceived threat to our safety truly upset us. Additionally, the management had no sincere apologies or followed up on our stay. We checked out and stayed in a different hotel the next night.

Hugs for Hugo
Welcoming, generous , informative , responsive and helpful staff in hotel (Daniel), including MAVSoho restaurant personnel as well as host in rooftop bar (packed for happy hour, but made room for our party, with tremendous views). We were there for family wedding so hotel and restaurant staff assistance ordering flowers, with rehearsal dinner, arranging photos , etc. very much appreciated. We liked the small, personalized feel of this hotel , unlike others in which we have stayed in NYC, as well as the fact that the hotel was reasonably priced. Only suggestion would be to address thermoregulation in room as temps in our room vacillated from very warm (mid 80’s) to chilly (low 60’s). Otherwise a most pleasant stay and we would book this hotel again when next in NYC.

Absolutely loved the room, amenities, and concierge at the front desk! The man who took care of us for our lunch when we checked in was very attentive and kind! The man who “took care” of us for brunch upon checkout was terrible. He kept pretending that he didn’t see us waiting to be sat. After we asked the bartender if we could have a seat for two she said he’d take care of us. He walked past us 2 more times. She finally said have a seat wherever you like, once we sat he walked by us again and I finally spoke up and said excuse me can we have a menu and he said sure as he walked away again. Once he gave us the menu he said sorry didn’t see you... a blatant lie. We had vouchers for a complimentary breakfast and we asked what they included. After we ordered he basically did not come over to check on us, I had to ask for salt, ketchup etc. He was only concerned with the table across from us, mind you there must’ve been only 5 other couples at max in there while we were there. So it was not busy by any means and it was noon. He just didn’t seem like he cared for our business at all and it definitely showed which made us extremely uncomfortable and for that reason alone I would never come back. I wish we had the server from the day before as he was outstanding! This other man for brunch just kept speaking Italian to the bartender and dismissing her and us. Otherwise the hotel is absolutely beautiful and was a pleasure to stay at! Even the bell hop was extremely helpful!!
