Both very good and very disappointing
Some staff were excellent, others not so much (i.e., rude, and reluctantly helpful). The room was nice, but the television sensor was dangling on a cord and never connected well with the remote; the room was almost unbearably warm and the thermostat was inoperable; lighting in the bathroom is very poor. Late on the second evening of our stay, a fuse was blown and we had no power in the room. Staff were summoned. They jerry-rigged the power control by removing the panel and partially inserting the card--which had to remain precisely as such in order for the power to remain on--and left it that way. We were told on the first evening that all on the top of the mini-bar--some water, fruit, crisps, and candies--were complimentary, included in the price of a "deluxe" room, while (naturally) all in the minibar was available at a charge. However, upon checkout we were charged a substantial fee for having consumed the "complimentary" water, crisps, and some of the candy. We objected and were not charged--though the receptionist made much of the fact that there was a misunderstanding. Yes, there certainly was. This is a not uncommon ploy in some hotels. Still, it abases the reputation of those which engage in such practices--easily avoidable by displaying a small notice indicating which goodies are, and which are not, complimentary. These negative observations do not extend to the majority of the staff, who were excellent.

Exceptional 10.0
This hotel is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING!! The rooms are so beautiful. The bed was very comfortable with a nice down comforter. The bathroom was enormous with a seating area and separate toilets. The staff was so helpful and generous. It was within walking distance to Vatican City and all the major tourist attractions. Very quiet for such a bustling town. They go above and beyond at this hotel. The restaurant just had its grand opening while we were staying there and it was a real who’s who of the local socialites and the breakfast was PERFECT. While it was a boutique hotel and we aren’t quite that fancy we loved the simplicity of our stay and got around by foot everywhere. If you’re staying in Rome THIS is the place!!! You get far more than what you pay for.

Poor 2.0
Huge disappointment.
Based on the rating and previous reviews, we were very much looking forward to experiencing the DOM Hotel. We have stayed at other five star hotels in Rome in the past and we were very disappointed with our stay at DOM. Our room was poorly lit, the TV in the mirror didn't work, the main shower was clogged and also very poorly lit. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast at DOM and quite honestly it was terrible. One section of the room was so brightly lit and the other was completely dark except for two dim lights. There was one person servicing the entire room. The day we left left it was raining, and the rain was literally comibg through the windows in the foyer. We had to move our bags out of the way so they wouldn't get soaked. Creating a romantic feel with dim lighting is one thing, we left feeling as though this hotel was afraid of LIGHT. Everything was so dark, the beauty of any space couldn't be appreciated because it was so hard to see. A huge disappointment.

Exceptional 10.0
The hotel was centrally located, just a block off the Tiber, 5 minute walk to the Vatican, and 5 minute walk to the Campo de Fiori, where there were a ton of restaurants, bars, and a little supermarket - the square became our go-to place for everything we wanted nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was cleaned daily and everything was modern. The hotel as a whole felt like it was our own private apartment building. WiFi was fast and free, it had satellite TV in many languages (although we didn't watch much - so much to do), continental breakfast was free and delicious (hot egg dishes cost extra, but we were more than satisfied with the variety of foods offered gratis). It was too cold to enjoy the roof deck while we were there but I bet it's a real treat when the bar is open. I would highly recommend the D.O.M to any friends or family thinking of visiting Rome.

Exceptional 10.0
A super, cosy boutique hotel in the historic centre. Lovely, charming and attentive staff who went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. They provided so many thoughtful touches which made you us very pampered - Aqua di Parma products were to be found in the bathroom which also had the biggest shower head I’ve ever seen! My husband was even provided with a complimentary bottle of prosecco for his birthday in addition to the welcome cocktails we had already received upon arrival. The ‘Per Me’ restaurant around the corner is an absolute treat too. We would happily return to the D.O.M hotel if we were to make a return trip to Rome.
