Saturnia Stay
So, we stayed for one night to enjoy the hot springs while in Italy. I didn't realize that the hotel wasn't in Saturnia proper, so our bus dropped us one mile away. There were no taxis, so a stranger kindly drove us down. The hotel had little signage, so it was hard to find. It is located behind a gas station, incidentally. However, when we got there, it was lovely! The woman running the place was great, and the room was in a cottage a little ways down the road. We had a hard time finding the hot springs, or getting anyone to point the way. We lucked out and followed two robe wearing people down to it! So you know, when you face the street in front, walk to the right down the hill to an alley, with signs for Cascale di Gorello. Take a left at the end, and you walk right up to the free hot springs. Anyway, great establishment, but you need a car to reasonably get around there. Highly recommended.

Not for everyone...
I believe this place was quite nice when the area enjoyed a better economy. Now it is fairly run down, but the Hostess, Louanna, goes out of her way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfasts were lovely. Best local yogurt and ricotta cheese I had during my time in Italy. Great cappuccino. Only breakfast is served here so you must make the trek to Saturnia for lunch and dinner which is fine if you have a car. If not, plan on doing a lot of walking up and down the hill because there is no official taxi service. Louanna gave us rides when she was available. Her English was as limited as our Italian but she really made a great effort to provide what we needed, including helping us arrange a lovely horseback ride through the beautiful countryside. My biggest discomfort was the bed. The mattress was pretty awful...but on the whole it was a positive stay.

All was great, except check-in confusion
We would highly recommend the Complesso Il Gorello for anyone interested in attending the Terme di Saturnia hot springs. The only hiccup we experienced was with check-in… we arrived at 8:00 p.m. (the hotel's information stated that reception was available from 6-10pm). However, no one was present. We waited and waited, making numerous attempts to call to no avail (this may have also been affected by my phone not getting through… not sure). After 9:00 we ultimately had to go to a nearby hotel who called them and someone came to check us in. This was at nearly 10pm. It appears this was due to the hotel staff misunderstanding email traffic between the two of us, so it appears to be an honest mistake. We would definitely recommend this hotel, but I would confirm via email/phone check-in time/availability just to be safe. Otherwise, a satisfying stay.
