We arrived with Hurricane Florence. The hotel was clean and did the best they could with the weather raging outside. Bed very comfortable. Clean

This is an adequate place to stay, and better than sharing a barracks room if you are here for TDY. The room was not very clean. It appeared that the floor was only vacuumed down the middle, with no attention paid to the edges or around furniture. The laundry facilities are pretty beat up and I think at least one shirt is ruined after a run through the washer and dryer here.

Getting there: First, the website needs to state up front that the hotel is on the Fort Bragg base and that visitors need a special pass to access the base. In our case we arrived at the base entry gate after 8:30 pm to learn we needed the passes and that they could only be obtained from the visitors centre some distance away. We arrived at the visitors centre with only a few minutes to spare and discovered we did not have the appropriate identification as we are not US citizens. This caused some stress. The stress was not helped by the officer indicating that they had advised the hotel several times to let guests know the protocol. Clearly, the hotel had not heeded this advice. Also, being on the base, it was too late find an open restaurant and the base shopping centre had closed at 9:00pm. Finally, we were able to purchase some supplies at the base gas station but they would not sell alcohol to non military personnel. At the hotel: staff were not very helpful, did not know about various attractions and did not explain anything about the closing times of the local stores. The receptionist seemed not to care about our difficulties finding and accessing the hotel. As our passes did not alow for a second entry, we were trapped at the hotel with little information. In the room: cockroaches were in the bathroom, the carpets were stained and dirty, mattresses were hard and several power outlets did not work. There was no toilet lid and the air conditioner was very noisy.
