Ohana Kuta Hotel - a great stay
Good value for money. I got free upgrade to spacious deluxe room with balcony. Very quiet. Decent free breakfast spread. Within 15 mins walk to Kuta beach.. lots of local cheap restaurants and massage places near the hotel. Wifi is average.

Close to everything
Friendly staff. They arranged a trekking adventure for me so I didn't have to deal with a tour company and got exactly what I wanted for sight seeing. The restaurant had good food and was surprisingly competitive in pricing. There are many currency exchanges nearby to choose from. It was easy to walk to the beach, the mall, and to Hard Rock.

Hotel is a good value for your $$$
Pros: Good breakfast. Good location. Decent pool. Clean room. Cons: Some rooms can be noisy, especially those facing the pool or the front street. The staff is absolutely NOT helpful with transportation, peddling their own overpriced transportation (do not fall for it). Bedding and towels are a bit oldish. Face towels are provided only after request. Air-conditioner is quite weak (but acceptable). I observed the gardener spraying some chemicals on the vegetation that ended up in the swimming pool ... A few hours in the pool leaves you with green fingernails and green hair; seems this is due to some copper containing algae.
