Very nice hotel but understad what area you are in
Hotel is very nice. Staff was the best with one exception which I will explain later. Room was clean but took a couple days before they changed bedding. Then it was changed everyday. Room was a nice size. Bed was too hard for my taste. Pool was nice and private. Very close to the beach, shopping and eats. Location: well something I didn't know when I book but found out very quickly was it is located in a gay area of Jomtein Beach. Which leads me to the worst part of my stay. They have a fitness room that offers saunas and massages. The attendant was also the masseuse. After I checked in, I passed the windows to the fitness room and noticed that he was calling me over. I just waived and said I would be working out soon The next day I went into the room and was greeted by the attendant whom I immediately got the impression was gay. I began my workout and he started asking me if I wanted a massage. I said no thank you. It should have ended there but it didn't. He walked over to me saying "please let me massage you! I have never massaged a man with such big muscles! Come on I give you a discount". I politely said no but then he reached for my shirt and began lifting it up to see my stomach saying "I want to see!". I slapped his hand away and tried to stay cool. I grabbed my gear and left. I never returned and worked out at a near by gym. Guess he thought because I booked there alone I was gay. Didn't complain. Didn't want him to lose his job. But come on dude! Not cool.

Major construction in progress
Upon arrival everything was fine, easy check-in, so far so good…. This is my third stay at this hotel…. Then walking to my room, could not believe my eyes, it was a building site, had to step over trailing electrical cables on the floor, extremely noisy with which goes along with a major construction works, there was people welding, grinding a total nightmare….. I feel extremely let down by hotels.com and the hotel itself for not informing me of the building works that was taking place…. But…. The room was very good, very quiet at night, superb night’s sleep, extremely good wi-fi, no mini bar (which I like), plenty of shops close by to buy drinks for the fridge (2 bottles of water per day from the hotel) it was very good… The restaurant, food was very good, apart from one evening where I waited around 10 minutes for a waiter or waitress to hand me a menu, I gave up and went somewhere else… The staff all in all do a fantastic job with all the building works going on, the hotel room was spotless… Apart from the restaurant staff, they appear to be slow and not interested in their jobs, they let the restaurant down badly, because the couple of meals I had there was very good… But as soon as I opened my door in the morning, it was back in the middle of a building again, so I checked out 5 days early and went somewhere else… The work is supposed to be finished in July, so better check before you arrive or you could be in for a shock like I was…..

Zing zong
Luckily we booked our stay for the purpose of visiting the water park and had little interest in the local area - this was good as the town was very far away. The bars were right next to the hotel so the music was loud during the night and then due to the building work in the hotel the day time wasn’t great either. On our second day the house keeping smashed on our door at half 9 and woke us up. We discovered on our second day that the door didn’t lock to our room and we had gone out the previous day with everything open to get at. The pool was fine and actually fairly nice but to get to it you either had to walk through a building site or onto the street in your bikini. We lost a ring in the pool and when we asked staff to turn the lights on he came and switched a switch and turned one on and left us. I woke up on two nights covered in ants all over my arms and face, they were all over the bed and we aren’t sure how they got in. Apart from this the room was very clean and comfortable. We believe they had good intentions but the building work got in the hotel, I think the photos were very good and the place didn’t match up. The reception was constantly full of staff, maybe 5 or more at one time, but they all seemed almost annoyed to help at points. The happy hour was a great addition however. Be warned there is also another zing which is just the hotel and many taxis dropped us at the wrong one.

A fairly priced hotel
Thoroughly enjoyed the stay here. Value for money, centrally located and walking distance to restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, shopping and the beach. Suggest booking a medium to higher priced room if you want to maximise your comfort and value. The rooms are not stunning , but the facilities outrank it's star rating. Room safe is not on the floor so you don't need to be a snake to operate it. Walk in rain-forest shower with piping hot water which was appreciated by my elderly friend who's mobility is limited and 3 sizes of towels. BBC, Aljazeera and Australia+ TV amongst a variety of other international channels. Coffee and tea making facility in room. Lifts and balconies to most rooms. Breakfast choice of buffet or set menu with multiple choices and really nice coffee We stayed for 3 nights and my only complaints were no undercover car park but they find you a space outside the premises. The bed was a little bit hard which could be made better with a topper. Gay friendly and non-gay friendly too.

Poor 2.0
Building work severely disrupted holiday.
I have previously stayed at this property and found it satisfactory so two weeks ago I rebooked to stay again. Noowhere was it shown at the time of that booking that the hotel was being refurbished and was basically a construction site. The work hours were limited but the construction if new steel fire escapes involved cutting metal pin site and hammering it inti place. Whilst this was taking place pneumatic jack-hammers were being used to rip out balconies and room interiors. Buiilding materials were piled at the hotel entrance. There were no indications of emergency fire routes either by sign or by Map. I am seriously concerned that hotels.com did not give indication of this work at the time of booking or. by a later email giving an option of booking somewhere similar without cancellation fee.
