Vancouver adventure
This is definitely a hotel to be selected only for its price and amazing location in the western end of Vancouver just moments from the Bay, its great walks and sunsets and convenience to the bridges, etc. However the hotel itself is "yesterday's roses" and gives the feel that it is waiting to be taken down and replaced with another high-rise condo development when the time is right. In the meantime, no real significant upkeep is going to happen. The room was spacious but furnished with what appears to be garage-sale bargains. The "breakfast" was pre-made waffles and bread with a toaster and coffee dispenser on a grab and go basis. Small lobby on the main level with ethnic food places occupying the balance of that level. Secure parking (an additional $10 p/day), is in the basement with a warning not to park in certain numbered locations because they are beneath "grease traps" (from these restaurants, I suspect). A+ for price and location; C for everything else.

Spartan treasurer
This the 9th time I have stayed at this place. It is in a terrific location, close to public transportion, Stanley Park and the beach/biking trails plus pricing great for the budget conscious. It is clean and a great place to drop your stuff and sleep. It has a kitchenette and a coffee machine plus the makens. It is not the Ritz—Carlton which I have stayed in as well. It Spartan but for us who would rather spend our limited funds on the great cuisine and activities in Vancouver rather that a gold plated toilet, it is near perfection. My prior reviews are pretty much the same, and it is where I will stay on my future visits.

Would stay here again.
The hotel might not be much to look at, but it's a nice homey place to stay.

Good economy hotel
I was attending a conference at the Sheraton and I needed a less expensive hotel that I could walk back and forth from, and the English Bay was a perfect choice. It is a bit rundown with old, stained carpets and beat up furniture, but the bathroom and kitchenette were very clean. The bed was comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Great neighborhood for restaurants. There is major building construction behind the hotel, but I was out all day so it did not bother me. If you are on a budget, the English Bay is a good choice.
