Quiet B & B - That is not fancy but feels great
This bed and breakfast place provided the very relaxing feeling - it had an early check in - it was low key- the trusting staff was out of site - except while making breakfast. It was the prefect (but also budget friendly) bed and breakfast. The room I had its own bathroom and the porch outside too.

Didn't work for us
We stayed Christmas night to be close to the airport for our flight the next day. The neighborhood had a lot of restaurants, but most of them were closed for the holiday. The neighborhood seemed safe and the B&B was a short walk to the metro. The bathroom's heated floor was a nice touch and WIFI was reliable. The hallway smoke detector low battery signal went off at 5pm and then again at 3am. At 5pm the staff tried to convince me to just let it keep beeping and close my door because it takes a special battery she didn't have. Somehow it had stopped beeping by the time we returned from dinner, but resumed its warning at 3am. I called the owner that time who said that the detectors were new and this has happened before; to his credit he was there within about 10 minutes to disable it (note that there are also smoke detectors in each room, which appeared to still be working properly). But until the cause of the issue is resolved, one might expect to be woken in the middle of the night by a malfunctioning smoke detector. We had to leave for the airport before the 8am breakfast was available. The blinds on the windows do not darken the room (be sure to bring a sleeping mask) and the mattress is very springy. All in all, it wasn't the relaxing sleep we were looking for the night before a long travel day.

Overall pleasant stay
This was my first time visiting Vancouver (my wife has been multiple times) and we had a terrific day. I called Cambie Lodge ahead of time to let them know we would be arriving late. They told us not to worry and they would have all our info and the key ready for our room. When we arrived an envelop was taped to the door and provided us with everything we needed for the night. Our only two complaints were that the bed wasn't that comfortable and the towels were scratchy (not very plush). Also, I guess it was very busy and we could not take advantage of their free parking spots. They said we couldn't park on the street (you need a permit) but on an adjacent street you did not need a permit. You could only park their for two hours starting from 8am. We were planning on leaving before 10am so it didn't end up being an issue. Breakfast in the morning was good and we paid afterwards. The neighborhood was great (residential and seemed very safe) but we didn't have enough time to take advantage and walking around. Overall, for the price we paid we got a very good deal. If you need a comfortable bed I would not recommend room 3 (I'm not sure if any of the other beds are more comfortable). Also if you like a lot of room amenities again I would not recommend. If you are lower maintenance like us and don't mind these two issues you will probably like the good deal to stay here.
