Incredibly Charming
I really want to give this hotel five starts, but that would force me to ignore two things. One, the TV did not work, which I didn't care about anyway, and two, getting hot water was an act of extreme patience. It did ultimately get warm. Having said that, Casa Pedro Loza is beautiful, well maintained, and incredibly charming. The staff was great, as was the location if you plan on sightseeing. I plan on staying here again in the future!!

A stay in a colonial mansion.
The area is in the centro historico, the hotel is about 4 blocks from the main church, 2 blocks from another church, 3 blocks from the square that the double decker tour buses start and also where the horse drawn calandrias stop to pick up guests for a ride. The hotel is an original colonial mansion with two story columns and arches. The rooms are individually decorated. My room was tastefully furnished with a smallish bathroom but with waterfall shower and nicely decorated. The balcony with shutters had the additional benefit of a sliding glass door for soundproofing from the street noise. The room was smallish but with possibly 20 ft ceilings felt more spacious and avoided any closed in feeling. The breakfast was gratis with eggs, coffee, juice, biscuits, bacon and chilaquiles with green or ted sauce. You can be issued a boarding pass from the check in desk under an antique staircase. There is an elevator probably from the 1920s. Meals are served in the enclosed courtyard at the center of the hotel.
