The Craigmyle, Victoria
A real disappointment
The Craigmyle was a great disappointment other than the rate. The pro’s. It was clean, the breakfast was very good and the concierge was excellent. The con’s. The building is very old (110 years) and stairs are very steep. With all rooms on upper or lower floors this can present a challenge. Even the outside steps and walkway are steep. As a solo traveler I was put in the “mini suite” with a twin bed that had all’s on 3 sides. The bed was very small, uncomfortable and claustrophobic. The hotel/guest house expects guests to remove their shoes upon entering the building. I have NEVER seen that before when paying for accommodations. Overall, given some knee issues and the expectation of a reasonably sized bed, I would not stay here again.

B & B Near the Castle
This is a beautiful 3 story B & B. It is decorated beautifully, the bed was very comfortable and there is very nice common room, with tea and coffee available anytime. Parking was difficult (had to park 10 houses down the block) it is first come first served on one side of the street in a residential area. Pack light, as there are a number of stairs to climb. Most of the rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floor, and just getting to the front door is a climb as well.

The Craigmyle, Victoria
We had an excellent stay at the Craigmyle. Our room was tastefully decorated, the hotel is quiet and peaceful, and the breakfast is wonderful. We would stay here again.

overall our stay was very good, my only concern was not having rent a car for the first night since the location is far from Victoria downtown

Craigmyle Inn
The Craigmyle BandB is located a short distance outside the downtown area next to a historic home (castle). It is a meticulously kept property, and the rooms- tho small and rather tight (unless you get a suite) are lovingly decorated. The bathrooms are small but again very attractively and individually designed. Breakfast is self-serve from a bounteous array of breads, soft-boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, cereal. There is a great deal of pride in maintaining the property. This would not be a good choice for those with mobility issues as there are a number of steps to climb to access the property.
