cool vibes and rich textures
Our stay was wonderful. We loved the hotel, the rooms, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The hotel decor is beautiful with classic color combinations and the rooms have top notch linens. We loved the beautiful art prints that echo back to the original Bronx Opera House. However, the parking situation is a wonderful unnerving - they only have five parking spots within the property, and two of those are for handicap vehicles. If we ever find ourselves on the East Coast again, we’ll be checking into the Opera House Hotel.

Nice place - Just don’t get a street side room.
OK. Here is the skinny on Opera House. 149th Street very busy. Tons of commercial activity and tons of street vendors, equals tons of people everywhere. I am cool with that. I went to the Bronx. I love the city and the culture. New York is the city that never sleeps, but everybody needs a little. If you go to Opera House get room that end in even numbers. Odd number room are street side. That means no sleep bro. All night long. Police, trash trucks, street maintenance, city bus stop right there. It never ends. Very nice place, very nice people. Short walk to subway and one stop to Yankee Stadium.

Good Inside Hotel, But Don’t Go Outside
Although the hotel was good, the area was very unsafe. There were many people hanging around the hotel and surrounding area that appeared to be “strung out” on drugs. Some were begging for money, some were sleeping on the street, some were nodding and some were openly using drugs. I did not feel safe outside the hotel, even during daylight hour. There was also an awful amount of noise. Police sirens were going off most of the night, and during the day, there was construction right next door which left a lot of dust on my car that was in the hotel parking lot.
