Different and outstanding experience
Last minute find and it was a gem! Taking some of the prior reviews on balance, it think its fair to say that I might have been put off, but my experience was the complete opposite of some of the negative reviews. Firstly this is not a hotel, its a private members club, and a really friendly customer orientated one at that. I couldn't disagree more with some of the other reviews regarding customer service. If you wanted a five star hotel then you should have gone to a five star hotel. Our room was superbly spacious and characterful. I travel three weeks out of every four and usually stay in the Westin, W, Hilton or Intercon - all over Europe. I was looking for something different/quirky and my expectations of something different were met at the Library - a taste of Shoreditch in the West End. The bar and cocktal service was excellent, the restaurant bent over backwards for us. Really enjoyed the stay, so much so, that I'm thinking of becoming a member of this glorious little bolt hole.

Nice hotel, but...
The hotel itself was nice. But "breakfast included" means that you make your own in your room, including the use of some kind of toaster contraption that also boils eggs. The room was spacious and clean, but our room faced the street, where you could hear folks talking and making racket throughout the night. Besides these minor complaints, our biggest issue was that there was some kind of "air freshener" device in the elevator, the smell of which was so pungent that we had to hold our breath while traveling up and down. Bottom line is that it was a nice hotel but not really a nice stay.

Breakfast was not served in restaurant. Instead breakfast food items were left in room during the day for the next morning.

Delightful and Full of Character
I was looking for place that had character for my mom's first trip to Europe and I found it! From the minute we stepped into Library, it felt like our secret hideaway. We were welcomed by the woman at the front desk who checked us in and stored our bags (we arrived early). We had a tasty, light lunch in the bar/lounge; it felt like our private library. The bartender was friendly and provided great service. As we were finishing, the woman brought us our room key. Up a small elevator to the 3rd floor, our room was one of two. The room was bright and sunny, with a good-sized bathroom, chairs and a table and multiple closets (small but sufficient) so mom and I each had our own. The bed was a little soft for our tastes but that's more about personal preference - overall very comfortable. My mom discovered another door from the hall. We opened it thinking it was another closet only to discover a kitchenette! Breakfast food was replenished daily so we enjoyed coffee & breakfast in the room. The only downside was that the A/C struggled to keep up with the July heat and, a couple days in, the room wifi failed. The staff tried but were unable to resolve the issue. The wifi still worked in the lounge and this did not ruin our stay. Note, if you stay in a room facing the St Martins Lane, it can be a bit noisy with the window open but there is double-glass and, if window is closed, the room is quite quiet. Overall, this was exactly what I was looking for and my mom was delighted.
